Had an unusual day at the lake. Started out fishing the crappie. It was a slow pick with most fish coming on the straight jig fished deep off the rocks. Ended up with about a dozen fish in two hours with a lot of rock hoping for some tired legs. Decided to try inside the marina when my buddy hooks a nice trout. 10 feet from shore a huge bass decides he wants this fish more than us and inhales it. Well my buddy's ultralight rig isn't set up for 10-12lb bass and basically smokes right in front of us. The bass ends up spitting the trout and my buddy winds in the corpse. We all look at each other and can't believe what we just saw.4 fishermen, one down. The remaining 3 of us cast and 2 of us hook up immediately on two more trout. Hoping for a repeat we take our time bringing in the fish when lightning strikes twice and my other Buddy's trout is again inhaled. Knowing he has little chance of actually having the fish hooked with the crappie jig he was fishing, he lets him run a few times before the bass spits up another corpse. This was a tagged trout from the derby. Too bad we didn't catch him a month ago. We all fished hard for the next half hour for not another bite. Still a day to remember.

Nice! Would you mind sharing which marina you were fishing at?

North fork marina. We were fishing between the marina and the brush. My buddy's going back with bass gear today.

Thanks Fishin Magician for an update from up there. Seems like the crappie bite has slow down a little. Plz keep the reports coming.

So my buddy goes back in the evening with an AC plug and the big rod. He ended up catching one about 8lbs. Time to switch my gameplan.
