WEnt to Convict lake for the opener. the weather was amazing and a little chilly in the morning. We fished from my boat and caught over a 100 fish for the four of us i think i caught about 60 myself all weekend. On saturday we started fishing at 5:12 and fished until 3 30 in the afternoon with a few breaks in between. WE caught fish all over the lake all day long. we caught fish mainly on jigs and thomas bouyants. i think we kept 10 fish on saturday and released the rest. On sunday we fished from 730 to 1030 and managed 30 between the 4 of us and released all of them. it was another great opener! here are a few pics.

You must have been one of the lucky ones to catch fish, everyone I talked to that fished Convict had horrible luck. I fished the Upper Owens for over 16 hours opening weekend and never had one single bite.

I'll be at Convict in 2 days. Going to fish it for 3 days then a 3 day tournament at Crowley...will probably end the trip at the Loop.
I'll have reports from all 3 and tons of pics to post.

Very interested in Convict and Crowley. Do they have pontoon rentals at Convict? ... if it's not too much trouble to find out.

THanks much

Thanks for the great info. I'm pumped ... will want to dine and do ... some fishing. Is the handicap platform any good? ... and are the people righteous about using it? Had a bad experience with some foreigners at Intake 2? (I need an attitude audit)

I was there for the opener caught 2 from shore and 1 from my outcast pontoon boat, all that after I got a fishing out of season ticket, got too used to going to SARL just got the notice back ticket was 183 bucks and I didn't even have a fish, thank God it would have been more. Cant wait to get back up there again.

You Tujunga guys are always trying to beat the system. Us La Crescenta people know better.

Whatever you do, don't rent the "deluxe boat w/ motor" It's $130.00 a day and very cramped for space and the bimini top is broken. It has forward steering...but that's it's only advantage.
