Red Drum

Went out and did solo trip aboard my little red 15ft Duroboat the “Red Drum”. I hadn’t taken this boat out fishing in over 5 months, and it ran great and the fish were biting.
About ready to shove off and hit the fishing grounds.

I made it out to the first spot about a half an hour before the major solunar prime time, which was from 3pm-5pm. My first 5 casts produced 5 nice size Sand Bass…love when that happens!
First cast Bass.

Second cast Bass.

Deep-water Bass.

Here is what the deep-water Bass barfed up, a Longspine Combfish…that is the first time I have ever seen that species up close and personal. That Bass must have just ate it, because it still looked really fresh and clean.

One of many Calico Bass that I caught while bait fishing.

I even pulled in a couple double hook-ups on the Calico
Bass.

Caught some of these bait-stealers.

Caught some Sheephead too.

That Newell 220 with fresh 20lb test put the hurts on the Billygoats.

Jackpot Sheephead.

Spent 4 hours on the water and ended up catching 14 Calico Bass, 12 Sand Bass, 5 Blacksmith Perch and 3 Sheephead. Not too bad for a day that was rated “Poor” on my celestial function in my GPS. Well it definitely helped to be fishing when the fish were biting.
Bonus: only burned 2 gallons of gas...sweeet!!
Can’t wait to get back out there again. HOOK-UP!!
