After a extremely loooong and stressful week at home, I decided the kids and I need some therapy. We found out this week my Type 1 diabetic daughter's Graves Disease is no longer in remission and she will either have to under go radiation treatment or have her Thyroid removed next month. She then was not feeling well Friday and I ended up taking her home from school. She has been bugging Jr and I to "take me to the spot". :Secret: So of we went today, arrived at the pond at 8:30 ish. After a slow start we figured out what they wanted and the slaying began. We made a pact on the drive to the lake no pictures of ANY BASS under 4lbs. Well we caught plenty for the next 2 hours and NONE met the required size. I did sneak in pic of a gill so I would have at least 1 memory of the day.

We fished all but 1 side of the pond and did not see ANY spawners and to top it off the pond is having algae bloom, so sight fishing was not the ticket- OR SO I THOUGHT We decided everyone was getting hungry so we gathered up the gear and hopped in the truck. I decided to make a drive by on the one side of the pond we did not fish. We made a quick pass in the truck when IT happened. I spotted a PIG right up close to shore. I locked up the brakes and was out of the truck so fast the kids thought I saw $$$ on the ground.:LOL: I grabbed a rod and made quick pitch with a Kreature Bait. She spooked BUT she turned back and I knew we had her. Jr had also made the call on the way up that his sister got 1st BIG fish. After 2 more pitches with the kreature and the big girl getting angry I switched to my Favorite bed bait- a 3" Senko, yes a 3 inch Senko. 1st pitch, swing and a miss- strike 1. 2nd pitch- nice swing but a FOUL TIP. 3rd pitch GAME ON. Spinning rod with 8lb test so this was no easy one to land. Sarah battled the beast better than most of my fishing buddies, yes Art Hill that includes you  and SMASHED her personal best Bass by almost 4lbs, YES 4lbs

Thanks for the kind words. The day was already perfect, fishing with the kids and then the icing on the cake. Not to often you can say you caught a Bass that weighed more than your age, she is only 7yo. Kind of like shooting your age in golf. I better live to be 100 if I want that to happen.
