Hi again. Yes, it another week and that means another Castaic Lake fishing trip for me. Today, I got some time off work and I took one of my dads buddies, Bay, to fish some stripers before he headed back to Kansas. The day started out by me wanting to punch someone in the face 400 times. After I calmed down, I got to do some fishing. It started out slow then it went nuts. We caught over 50 fish. All nice large one. Very few schoolies. It was wide open for in the afternoon. We had doubles, triples and quad hook ups on big units. Castaic Lake is definitely going off. Here are the moments in time:

Here is how the day started. It was kind of chilly. Forecast was a slight chance of rain, with high probability of rain the next day. All the signs of good striped bass fishing. I was sure we were going to do well.

Here is the drama. I wanted to try out Sharon Rests in the morning. I anchored up and was waiting for some fish. All of the sudden this Jerk drives around me and scares away all the fish. Then this Jerk drops his anchor over mines and parks like 2 feet in front of me. I was like WTH!!!!! He tells me, "He sees fish". I tell him, "This lake is HUMONGOUS" and that he does not need to park his boat right on top of me. Plus his anchor is criss crossing mines and if either of us would to pull anchor, we be all tangled up. He tells me he is already anchored and there is nothing he can do. Basically, he is being the biggest ahole in the world and doesnt want to to move. Understand I been at anchor for 30 minutes before he arrived. I am fuming at the this point and he had the audacity to ask "if he is too close". I get tired of his crap and pull anchor, cause I am not willing to lose my anchor. I pull my anchor and of course it it tangled up in his, but luckily mines is a mushroom anchor and there is no points, so the tangles comes undone easy. When I left I had a few choice french words for him and his mama. And I was not being quiet about it either. I am sure the 2 other boats were entertained. Also, when I came back in from the lake someone kicked in my winch handle on my trailer. I sure hope it was not the Jerk cause it would be on like donkey kong.

I went to one of my spots and put Bay on a nice lineside.

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a102/dattrinh/IMG_1131.jpg
A few minutes later Bay hooks up again. Dan (Lowe Boat) fished with us for a bit.

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a102/dattrinh/IMG_1132.jpg
The result, another nice fish.

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a102/dattrinh/IMG_1133.jpg
Later on we got a schoolie.

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a102/dattrinh/IMG_1135.jpg
The bite was fizzing out big time. There was a lot of fish in the area, but they were locked jawed. I made the decision to try the buoy line cause everyone and their grandma was there and I wanted in on the bandwagon. Glad I caved into the buoy line cause the first drop was a instant hook up. Here is the bendo shot.

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a102/dattrinh/IMG_1138.jpg
A schoolie. Better than nothing.

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a102/dattrinh/IMG_1142.jpg
Better fish.

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a102/dattrinh/IMG_1143.jpg
Bay also got in on the action.

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a102/dattrinh/IMG_1144.jpg
After the schoolie passed through, we started getting some nice fish.

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a102/dattrinh/IMG_1179.jpg
Then some turn on the lights for us and we were getting doubles.

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a102/dattrinh/IMG_1176.jpg
After the doubles, I got my hand at a larger unit.

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a102/dattrinh/IMG_1158.jpg
After I got mines in, Bay threw on a schoolie.

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a102/dattrinh/IMG_1174.jpg
Some action shot from the buoy line.

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a102/dattrinh/IMG_1160.jpg
It was pretty good fishing, but we wanted the bigger models, so we started to meter some.

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a102/dattrinh/IMG_1145.jpg
We found them in a nearby area.

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a102/dattrinh/IMG_1146.jpg
Here is one of my larger models.

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a102/dattrinh/IMG_1148.jpg
It was wide open. Our poles were bent the whole time.

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a102/dattrinh/IMG_1152.jpg
More action shots.

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a102/dattrinh/IMG_1165.jpg
Here is a double bigger models.

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a102/dattrinh/IMG_1166.jpg
Bay again with a bigger model on. I was also hooked up.

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a102/dattrinh/IMG_1168.jpg
Results: All the fish were very nice. We waited for about 1 minute for each bite. That was how good it was.

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a102/dattrinh/IMG_1180.jpg
Here is one of our quad hook ups.

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a102/dattrinh/IMG_1184.jpg
This is how my fish finder looked. It was filled with stripers.

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a102/dattrinh/IMG_1191.jpg
In between playing with the larger unit, we had to deal with the every present schoolie.

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a102/dattrinh/IMG_1192.jpg
Some got released to grow up and fight another day.

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a102/dattrinh/IMG_1193.jpg
See you later bud. He gave my camera a wet splash goodbye.

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a102/dattrinh/IMG_1171.jpg
Here is Bays take. Some of the large units went home with Bay for his fish fry. Some got released and a second chance on fish life.

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a102/dattrinh/IMG_1197.jpg
Here is Bay giving you the idea of the size of the fish we were catching.

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a102/dattrinh/IMG_1194.jpg
Parting shot. April Gloom.

Hope you enjoyed another week at Castiac with me. I would like to dedicate this post to the SOB in the morning. I hope he caught a big striper at that spot and choked on the bone eating it for dinner. See you next time.

Great job Marz!
You definately are on a roll right now. Ride it as looooong as you can.
As for the #%* that set up on top of you, I've noticed that of all the lakes I fish in SoCal, Castaic is usually the worst with wakeboaders and jack@#$%* that like to see how close they can get. I usually leave a rod on the deck with a rather large and menacing crankbait that I can heave close enough to let them know they could be given an enormous amount of pain should they get any closer. Got a lot of stare downs with wakeboarders, but they always leave and don't usually come back around.

Anger management my butt, I want to choke one of these morons out...lol

Wow another awesome report. I can't think of a report from you in the last few months where you haven't found fish.

Too bad about the drama. I'd have been sure to pull up his anchor too so at the verry least he'd drift off the spot and have to reset after you dropped it back overboard.

Anyone see two hispanic dudes that escaped from jail? I heard they maybe headed for the lake. No big deal they were just up for armed robbery.

i am on vacation for a week...lopez lake all weekend followed by a day at castaic, then maybe go kill some jellos...Weather is my only x factor right now...as for tha Ahole...next time cast a lead 1/2 oz egg sinker at the old gelcoat a few times, if that doesn't make em move, kick it up to a 1oz torp...LOL
works every time. If he says anything, you tell him thats where you were casting before he got there. I always tell someone off, usually once every dozen trips or so.....

I have absolutely no problem with anyone fishing next to me. Actually, Dan (Lowe Boat) and I have on many occasion invited people to fish next to us. I met quit a few of you guys out there and a lot of you guys have ask to fish next to me. I more than welcomed you. I am not a spot nazi, but this guy was being a total jerk. This is not the first time "that guy" threw his anchor recklessly.

Even though I would have love to cut his anchor line, or cast my line at him, or punch him in the face that day. Violence or revenge is not the key. It was my day off, I came to relax, so instead of getting more angrier than I was already was, I told him he can have this spot and left. I did leave him with a few choice words how I felt about him and what he did to me. That made me feel kind of better, but the choice words didnt.

I am sure "that guy" reads my post and hopes he understand that he cant be going around doing that kind of stuff. Enough of this, lets just all pretend it never happened and move on. Hope you guys have fun fishing for those stripers this weekend. Thank you for your replies and comments. See you all out there.

And...Ricky stay in China. J/K, see you when you get back. We'll go kill some jellos again.

Too bad courtesy is not a virtue everyone has in their tackle box. I congratulate you for being the bigger fisherman that day. As for me. . . I might have completed his box with a 2ounce pyramid between the eyes. LOL Great catch and thanks for the report!
