There are a bunch of canals throughout Phoenix. My brother catches catfish in all of them. He's not really a fisherman and just stops by on a whim and chucks a hot dog chunk out and nails them for fun. He releases them all. There are big carp in the canals too.

Kingman. Man your golf course ninja outings are probably over with. Not much out there. You are only an hour from the Colorado river though and Lake Mohave, Havasu.

Lots of good lakes around. Get on google maps and have some fun.

Roosevelt, Pleasant...lots of fishy waters, plus a Game and Fish department that isn't totally underfunded and mismanaged.

Good luck out there. Can't wait for the fish porn.

There are quite alot of urban lakes in the Phoenix area, here's a link to their official urban fishing site.

The canals are all over the place in Tempe and to the north, south, east and west. You won't be able to miss them.

I've been in AZ for a couple years now. There's some fairly decent trout and walleye fishing once you get up on the Mogollon Rim and in the White Mountains. Plus, it's just a 7 hour drive to Utah for incredible trout of all species.

Pike.....that's the fish you want. The closest I think would be Lake Mary, but not the best place.

Tempe Town Lakes?? Why bother with that cement pond when you are surrounded with more natural fishable areas than you can fish in a lifetime.

Good luck in AZ.

BGH: starting a Ninja Fishing Militia in Kingman? Careful out there. Lot's of angry dudes with guns & homemade uniforms out there.... LOL!!

If you drive real good they will take your picture! Seriously, there are cameras EVERYWHERE there. On the freeway, red light cams, and every street corner within 3 miles of campus. It's really annoying.

RE: Town lake, I think the locals tend to avoid this lake the water is almost stagnant, very low flow (nasty). But I hear the good fishing is at Roosevelt Reservior. It's to the east, MONSTER catfish and good bass. Never been to Roosevelt but a local fisherman spoke very highly of it.

Good luck

Tempe flows off the salt river so its not stagnent. Its a river lake.rose is kind of far, theres a few lakes before you get to rise and im aware of the cameras but thank you.

Good luck in Tempe. The boyfriends son lives there. For drinking, try The Vine or the Sleepy Dog. Dunno about the fishing! There's also a fantastically great piano bar downtown.

Glad you were able to land a job, just a shame you had to leave. At least the drive to visit your friends here isn't too bad and there's Legends IV to come to this year......congrats, OFG

It was just on the news this morning that the cameras will be coming down in July of this year. DPS will not be renewing the contract with the company that installs and maintains the cameras. This also includes the roadside vehicles with cameras as well as the pole mounted cameras.

Only the cameras on the freeways are coming down, the intersection cameras are still going to be up.

That's what I meant...but you are correct Gurilla. Besides...the freeway and roadside cameras are the only ones I worry about (my speedometer hasn't worked in a few months)
