Yesterday was my final trip for the week, as I start my work week today. I will be back on water everyday next week. I need a week to recover anyway, as I am beat.

Yesterday I fished with Shaun, and his friend Luong, who is also a business associate. Shaun has fished some before, mostly small golf course ponds, but Luong had never fished a day in his life.

We did not get on the water until 7:00 a.m. but that did not matter. Just as soon as we started, both guys were on fish. Luong tied into a huge fish, but because of inexperience, he lost his fish. Trust me, it was huge. My estimate was that it was well over 8 pounds.

Shaun quickly hooks up with a nice fish, and his fish was over 5 pounds. Luong was soon back into another fish, and once again it was a big one. We had this one very close to the boat, but before we could net her, the fish bore straight down and under the boat, and that was that. Another fish lost. I am dying here.

Shaun all the while is fighting another big fish, and this one is over 6 pounds easy, Shaun brings him in, and he is stoked. We all were. It was by far Shaun's biggest freshwater fish. We weighed the fish, and it just missed the 7 pound mark. It was one meal away from 7.

We continued to boat fish after fish, all the while watching my 2 friends Larry and Joyal boat just as many as we were. No make that more, as these two guys have mad fishing skills. I think Larry ended his morning at over 40 fish, or was it 50, with 2 fish over 7 pounds. Joyal was matching him fish for fish. These 2 guys own that lake.

Luong's highlight of the day happened twice. He boated a nice catfish, and caught a rainbow trout. The other highlight was when the new largemouth bass record tying angler from Japan came by and introduced himself to us, and took photos with Shaun, and Luong.

Kurita is a very nice guy, as was his photographer. They were fishing with some of our pro-staff guys from Optimum Bait Company. They took some pictures of Shaun and Luong's big fish as well.

We ended our day with 6 fish over 6 pounds, and a few in the 5 pounds range. It was a day for 6 pound clones, as it has been all week. A lot of these fish were post spawn. I did see a few school of bass fry yesterday in some of the coves.

Here are some of their fish. We did not take many pictures with my camera, but Luong has a lot on his camera. I did not want to waste to much time taking pictures, as you never know when the bite will die off.

This concludes what has been the best "big fish" week for me, I have seen as a guide.

Thanks,

I look forward to meeting him Larry. As I recall, last year you two nailed some beast together.
