4/24- 4/25 Overnight on the Pacific Dawn

SUP N00BZ, went out on the Pacific Dawn with my uncle and Cousin this past weekend out of Ventura harbor. As we boarded the boat, we had the "talk" before we took off. Dustin (co-captain) said they were getting a few rockfish, not enough to limit out, there was no sign of white seabass, and theres no squid to go around. It sounded like it was going to be tough fishing. Woke up the next morning and started fishing. First drop, i hooked up on both of my hooks. 2nd drop i get a short ling, 3rd drop a chuckle nd a red... Basically fishing was WIDE Freakin OPEN. Whole boat got limits off rockcod, whitefish, and most people got sheephead too!

Heres were it gets more Awesome.. On our way back I fell asleep and woke up to the cook calling for fish tacos. I wake up and realize we are goin alot slower than before. My cousin tells me that we are chasing TUNA?! WTF! THIS FAR NORTH AT THIS TIME OF YEAR?! Next thing i know, one of the deckhands yell "BOIL!" and 20 seconds later, HOOKUP! Opie fought the mystery fish for like 5 or 10 minutes and broke him off. We saw deeeeep color but no confirmation. Followed the "tuna" a little more, and got 1 spanish jack out of it. Got in 3 hours late, but it was an epic trip so i didnt mind.

Those are some quality sheeps and rock fish. Looks like flat, calm seas also. Nice report.
