Hello again. It is another week, so that means another Castaic Lake outing for me. With the front coming through Tuesday, I already knew the fishing was going to be excellent. This week my friend Ricky wanted to join me, so I let the bastard come with me. This has to be one of the epic trips out to Castaic Lake. Ricky and I found a bunch of bigger fish. It was WFO as soon as we anchored down. It bit great the whole time we were there. We definitely left them biting. Most of the fish got released, some of the bigger units went home with Ricky.

I also wanted to let you know, after seriously conferring with Ricky, we thought it would be best to photochop out this weeks background because of newer spot we are fishing. Ricky and I would like to keep this spot in our back pocket for a raining day. You may PM Ricky and tell him how much a ahole he is all you want. Here are the flashbacks in time:

I started the day with a schoolie. Instant bendo when I dropped down my bait. Fish was released.

Ricky played deckhand. He netted my back to back fish. This one was a larger unit.

Ricky gets on board with a schoolie. This one was also released.

This is how the fish finder looked. Some of the packs were hungry, some of them toyed with our baits, some of them just laughed us.

Ricky with a nice castaic unit.

Ricky with a Big time Bendo! Ricky ended up losing this one to the anchor.

This schoolie only had one eye. Gave him a second chance on life.

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a102/dattrinh/IMG_1078.jpg
We had quite a few of these. Here is me with of the bigger units.

Ricky fighting a bigger unit.

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a102/dattrinh/IMG_1080.jpg
Not as big as we thought it would be, but a decent size one.

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a102/dattrinh/IMG_1082.jpg
As soon as Ricky puts the lineside on board, his other rod loads up and he picks up another one about the same size.

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a102/dattrinh/IMG_1084.jpg
More schoolies.

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a102/dattrinh/IMG_1090.jpg
See you when you gain 10 lbs.

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a102/dattrinh/IMG_1092.jpg
Another schoolie that plagued me. This one needed some help before heading back down to the lakes' abyss.

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a102/dattrinh/IMG_1093.jpg
Rocky definitely had the hotstick later on in the evening.

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a102/dattrinh/IMG_1095.jpg
Comparing one of the fish to Ricky's size 11 shoe. Decent unit.

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a102/dattrinh/IMG_1096.jpg
Dental work.

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a102/dattrinh/IMG_1098.jpg
The schoolies finally left us and we started putting in some large units.

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a102/dattrinh/IMG_1099.jpg
Ricky's also got in on the action.

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a102/dattrinh/IMG_1100.jpg
More large units came on board.

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a102/dattrinh/IMG_1101.jpg
It was WFO on the guys. Here is one of my better fish.

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a102/dattrinh/IMG_1105.jpg
Jackpot of the day. Piggy.

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a102/dattrinh/IMG_1106.jpg
Doubles. I am pretty sure you get the picture of how great the day was going.

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a102/dattrinh/IMG_1114.jpg
We were about to leave and fish finder lights up again. Mann they were thick!

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a102/dattrinh/IMG_1115.jpg
With a school that large, it is a guarantee bendo.

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a102/dattrinh/IMG_1116.jpg
Another good one.

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a102/dattrinh/IMG_1107.jpg
We slayed them. Epic Day.

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a102/dattrinh/IMG_1110.jpg
Rickys take. That is going to be a lot of tacos. We caught about 40 something fish. I believe 10 were kept. The rest were released.

Parting shot.

Thank you for fishing with me again. The water is up 2 degrees from last week. Hopefully we can pass the 60 degree mark and start seeing some surface action. See you all real soon.

Guys, Forget about trying to be like Marzocchi. I know that you can be fishing in the same boat right next to him, use the same bait and method, and he will still out fish you 2 to 1. Rumor has it that if he cuts himself, he bleeds striper blood. If he throws up, whole stocker trout will come out of his stomach. Need to check under his shirt for gills. The guy is amazing :)

I love your reports! Keep up the good work! (no dad pic this time eh)

On a side note Me and Brandonfish are going to hit up Castaic this weekend and rent a boat, anyone know if the rentals come with anchors, and if they do, are they long enough for the bouy line?

Im actually going this saturday as well. As for the rental they only give you about 50ft of rope, probaly even less...give them a call and ask. I rented one about a month ago and it was hell, but still caught my first ever strippy while just drifting. I just bought 600ft of rope, but still need to put it on 150ft incruments,,,Now that im thinking about it I better get on the ball and set it up. Oh I hear that you should bring a second achor for each end of the boat.

NICE JOB GUYS! What do you use to catch those fish?

Sardines. 1inch chunks. Bigger chunks if you want the smaller fish to stay away, but somehow they find a way to eat it anyways.

Thanks to everyone for the kind words and comments. Good luck out there this weekend and catch a whole bunch of stripers.
