SWAT. and the Pirate Crew Joint Attack on NPH - Sunday 4-18-10

The SWAT top brass were giving me a hard time for being a Harbor Virgin. :LOL: So my fellow SWAT member Steve, aka Flyngby was generous enough to invite me to board his beloved Spotted Fever for a special day out in the NPH. Also onboard was our SWAT commander Wingnut and another harbor master Eddie aka Hesbros. Soon to be a SWAT member himself only if he gets rid of his pink arm floaties that he uses whenever he fish the surf, or at least that’s what I was told. :ROFL:
Also descending on the harbor on their own Pirate vessel was two of the most terrifying Pirates to ever take to the sea, Mike aka Bones and Lucas aka Big Red.
My goals were to learn all the different techniques from the harbor masters and to catch as many species as I can from the harbor, mission accomplished! I got a multi-species day and learned so much about how to fish in the harbor. I caught Sand Bass, Spotted Bass, a Butterfly Ray and a short White Sea Bass that popped off as I was lifting it up over the side. I have witnesses!

I also witnessed some exceptional angling skills from these guys. From Steve’s vast knowledge of this harbor and multiple fishing techniques, to Eddie’s swimbait destruction of the Spotties on light line to Arthur’s complete domination of the massive Bat Ray on consecutive trips to the harbor.
Also, it was fun to see the Pirates having such a hard time launching their water craft and getting lost all day. LOL We had a couple of jackpots going on all day for the biggest Spottie and the biggest Halibut. Eddie took down both jackpots and all of the cash! :Envious:
Eddie dealt Arthur a devastating blow near the end of the day as Wingnut had the lead on the biggest Flattie until there was only seconds left in overtime. Ouch!

Thank you very much Steve for having me on your boat. I had a great time and learned alot of good stuff. You are one generous and down to earth individual. Eddie, thanks for being my deckhand and camera man all day. I learned a lot from just watching and listening to you as well. Congrats on sweeping the jackpot! Mike and Lucas, fun to see you guys again and looking forward to fish the surf with the SWAT crew again soon. Arthur, thanks for making this happen for me, it was long overdue and it was worth the wait. My next goal is to catch a Halibut in that harbor.

On a side note, man Arthur, I've never seen you farmed so many fish before in all the years we've been fishing together bro. What's up with that??? We had so much fun giving you a hard time all day. Next time, leave your fishing rods at home and just bring a pitch fork and shovel, you farmer. LOL Shake it off buddy, shake it off.

Wow, what a fun day that we had out there in the harbor. It was our pleasure to finally de-virginized you from the NPH. Steve & Eddie are indeed great company aren’t they? We were laughing and joking all day long as we kept a close eye on those Pirates. Rumor has it that they had some water balloon canon balls onboard. But we didn’t let them get close enough to fire them off. Lol
Mike, I told you to bring some sun block, now that your knees are all sun burnt! Lucas, Happy Birthday dude, see you out in the surf. Eddie, you are a great photographer and video technician. You did a great job with the “FNN Television” all day. Please DO NOT post up that video that we were talking about! LOL Steve, you’re a great friend, thanks for the fantastic day on the water.

We accomplished our mission of putting Blackwater on some harbor fish. I was worried at first because Phuong was a little slow coming out of the gates, but really got going and made up for it as the day went on. Could it be your hook-set Princess? Hahahahaha!
Yes, your next goal will be the same as mine, to get a "legal" harbor Flattie.

Yup, I was a farming machine all day. :Neutral: I can’t believe how many fish that I lost whether at hook-up or after a brief fight. I think there was a stretch there where I farmed something like ten fish in a row, keeping you guys entertained and throwing my little fit there on the back of the boat.. :LOL: I've never been one to dwell on a lost fish, but that one that I couldn't turn fast enough and took me deep into the dock pillings will haunt me for a while. Then there’s the big Bat Ray, I think Poseidon was just having a little bit of fun with me. I think he want to see me cry "uncle". When I first hooked up and saw it come up and shot away from the boat, I was like “Oh crap, here we go again…” Funny, I was trying to hand it off to one of you guys, but NOBODY wanted a piece of that thing. Again, I was amazed that the #10 line didn’t snap because I told myself I didn't want to waste 45 minutes fighting another Bat Ray... pure misery. :Envious:

It was all in all a very good day of fishing. Lots of Bass and short Flatties to keep us all busy. As for your WSB, I didn’t see any WSB, what WSB? I wonder if Steve & Eddie saw it too? :Wink: Hahahaha, just kidding man, it looked to be around 20 inches.

Eddie, congrats again on the jackpot sweep! I thought that I had the Halibut jackpot all but nailed down until you hit that game winning 3-pointer late in the contest. Well done buddy, very well done! :Cool:

As always it was another fun filled trip aboard the Spotted Fever.

As usual when you have a Harbor Virgin on board the fish don't always cooperate and it takes some moving around to pick them off here and there.

It has fun ditching the pirates on several occasions and getting the phone calls asking for navigational help in the fog every time they were lost! I thought they were going to play follow the leader but I guess they did not want any witness their mischievous doings!

Every one else has given a good round op of the trip so I won't repeat them.

Awesome report guys........I'm still tired and sunburned. I always wear long shorts but sitting down all day fried my kneecaps so I pulled a typical ginger move and put sunblock on my sunburn....LOL
We did allright with a handfull of spotties and calicos but you guys had Capt Steve to lead you in your assault. I've got to admit that I was out of my element on a boat. Everything is so.......Backwards...LOL
Still had a great time though fishing with Bigred......He always keeps me laughing!
I figured it was going to go WFO right before dark and sure enough.....It did!
Great job and congrats to all of you guys..........I'll make sure to NOT put my money on the table to compete with the NPH assault crew next time when I knew that you guys were hustlers for sure.

That Bat Ray was definitely bigger than the one I caught on the previous trip, but took less time to land. Not sure exactly how much it weighs... but I'm pretty sure it's at least double digit. :Wink: Trust me, I don't play with the "Ugly" on purpose. :LOL:

Hey everybody, thanks for all your generous comments. I don't have enough patience like Wingnut to respond to every replies, got diapers to change. :LOL: :mad: But i have to say that was one of the most enjoyable times i've ever had fishing.
