Headed out to Huntington Pier on Friday with Mr. Bendo for some mud marlin (batray) action as well as anything else we could hook into. Not much to say about this round. It was a long, windy day with not alot of action. All I ended up catching was a crap load of mackrel both pacific and spanish(these I'm told don't come in near the shore very often but there were plenty of them that day.
Mr Bendo hooked into this nice sized shovelnose.

This was a whole fish that I had on a hook as bait ... guess I did get hit. Had a few other hits but no hook ups.
Toward the end of our stay, Mr Bendo hooked up on these bass, I believe one was a sand bass and one was a calico bass. Both were taken on Gulp Jerk-Shad in Camo color.

We caught a load of mackrel that we tried using as bait, with no result. At least we'll have plenty of bait for Legends of the Vine. We got a few sardines but had trouble keeping them alive in the bucket, even with Mr Bendo's airators. We were having a heck of a time trying to catch more sardines or anchovies which seem like they work best out on the pier. This was a really slow day out there, I also didn't notice many other people catching stuff.
