I missed the early season yellowtail bite 3 times already. So I got my pops and some of my fishing buddies and planned a quick Mexico trip to kill some jellos that has eluded me for the past month. Heard the bite was at Todos Santos Island so I booked a Ensenada trip with Jay from ensenada.com. It was as good as it gets for the early season yellows. We lost almost all our tady 45s and had to worry if we had enough room to fit all the yellows on the boat. We had 2-3 going at almost every stop in the morning. One time we had everyone on the boat hooked up. It was wide open in the morning. Good times.

Here is how the day looked. It took me 2 1/2 hours to Ensenada from Glendale. Got lost along the way and the cops escorted us to the back to the main highway.

It was rough out there in the morning, 6-7 feet rollers. We took a 35 minute ride out to Todos Santos Island.

The SD Fleet Fleet was thick. Our Captain Charo stayed away from the fleet and said we are going to find our own fish. Run and Gun style. No bait, just jigs.

We were pulling on these things all morning. It was wide open. We had doubles, triples, quads, and quins hook up.

My friend Jon working on a yellow on the bow and my other friend James working his fish also.

Our decks were bloody. I have to toss away my favorite fishing pants when I got home. It was like I rolled around in blood all day.

Here is my pops working it easy from the comfort of our cooler.

The bite was incredible. Here is another I happen to take a picture of.

Here is Ricky on another fish. We stayed away from everyone. We run up to the boiling fish and toss our jigs at them. It was so damn fun.

Here is the result of Ricky fight. My dad is in the background resting. We all took 15 minutes break after fighting a few fish. Mann these yellows put us to work.

By 10 am we almost had 2 coolers full of yellows. Here is one of them. The other one was full too. We caught some brutes.

The morning fishing was relentless. We were running out of space in the cooler.

Here is one of mines.

Here is cooler #2. We could not put in anymore fish.

Here is our Captain Charo. He worked hard to put us on the fish. He worked so hard we ran out of gas doing the run and gun fishing. He runs the No Limitz 6 pack usually, but we got lucky and he was our Captain on one of his partner panga, the roc cod. If you ever head to Ensenada, request him. He is damn good. He can spot fish like a hawk. There was a few stops he said "there is the fish". I did not see nothing and thinks he is seeing things, then he hooks up. Crazy good.

Yellows all around. We headed in early. Captain Charo wanted to stay and catch more yellows. We were beat and wanted tacos. We went in at 1pm with our limits.

Here is Captain Charo again. The deck was littered with yellows. Captain Charo is showing there is more in the cooler.

We went to our usual taco stand in Mexico. It is not a Mexico trip without some carne asada tacos.

Parting shot. The Big Jesus. Glendale to Ensenada and back in less than one day.
Hope you enjoyed fishing with me. Cant wait to come back to oh oh Mexico again.
