What channels should I be monitoring? tia. Is there a channel for people on FNN? How about the party boats? Any and all info welcome.

16 is monitored by USCG and commercial companies and for general announcements and advisories. 68/69/71 if you are going to have a "private" or extended convo. Ch 6 is used in Mexico (at least in Baja Norte), but even that isn't consistant b/c we got taxi and truck drivers on Ch 8 in Puerto Vallarta.

But basically you can hail most on 16 in the states. Commercial traffic is 13 if you can't reach them on 16 and you think a tanker is going to plow you over.

Party boats? I believe most Tx in code groups or secured channels. I've been told that you can actually hear the chatter of a couple of them local LA cattleboats if you have the right basic equipment as they aren't broadcasting "secured" or digital.

69 70 71 72 fishermen use, 71 or 72 the most.
Those inshore cattle boats use cell phones too and don't spill there guts to the world.
