Anyone hear about the trout derby at Brite Lake in Tehachapi?
The water level is kinda low but there's still some good action.
Tehachapi Parks and Rec. plants Alpers rainbows, so still a decent fish to catch.
Date : April 24.....same as opening day in the sierras
Time : 8:00 AM - 2:00 PM
Cost : $5.00 per vehicle park fee, $5.00 derby entry fee
Win : $500.00 for tagged fish only (don't know how many tagged fish will be planted)
Prizes for 1st biggest, 2nd biggest, and 3rd biggest trout
Entry : Only the day of derby, sale starts at 6:00am
I talked to the lake camp host and found out some of the particulars.
Boats with oars or electric motors and float tubes are ok.....no PFD's needed.
Campsites are available first come first served with RV sites available.
I'll be there because I hate the crowds that are always there for the Sierra opener.
