Does anyone know if the bait receiver in Newport is running? Heading out tomorrow. Also i have been up towards HH but can any one tell me if there is kelp going down south from newport and about how far. Im taking the kids out and dont wanna go to far out with them.

Thanks for the number Ness. I tried calling and just got a recorder. I will try calling again later.
It is scheduled to open at the end of April. If you go out there you will see them working on it. Also it is under new ownership, IIRC, San Pedro Bait Co. bought them out. They are installing all new pens and should have better time dealing with the dogs.

Newport Bait Barge is back in action
As of today 4/8/10 there is a newly constructed barge servicing Newport Harbor. The new barge will hold twice as much bait as the previuos barge, giving us the ability to provide better bait than what Newport is acustomed to. We are open 24/7 from now thru the end of october and located in the same place the bait barge has always been.
