Just got off the Constitution after a 1.5 day trip. 21 passengers loaded up on 85 yellows and a few assorted rockfish. :Big Grin: We were fishing just south of Ensenada (Punta Banda) :Secret: in 120-200 feet of water. Yellows boiling everywhere. Some were caught on the bottom but most were caught in the upper third of the water column. Salas 6x in scrambled eggs seemed to be the hot jig. There were over 400 yellows between the boats. :EyePop: Saw the Grande, Sea Adventure, New Lo Ann, Pac V, Voyenger and a few other boats (I counted 14 boats fishing with us). I picked up a few rockfish on the 80 gram pink/white Lucanus. Lots of wind out there trying to drift fish with 15-30 know winds.

One of the passengers hooked the bottom with his newly purchased rig (from the Fred Hall Show) on a salas jig. A deck hand tired to get it unbuttoned but dropped this brand new set up into the Pacific. :Crying: His work buddy was jigging right next to the lost rig and thought he snagged the bottom (but he was half way up on the grind). Captain Joe moved the boat to possibly recover the newly purchased tackle. We found that his work buddy snagging the drowned rig by the rodtip and even recovered the bottom stuck Salas jig.

Captain Joe runs a great operation! Jake cooked up a storm. Excellent crew. I'll be back on this boat again... :Big Grin::Cool::Big Grin:

Now, THAT is living right. If I were one of those two guys, I'd find a casino or racetrack ASAP and try to work some more magic of that kind. Great story!

Boiling YTs......who was directing traffic in all that gridlock?

Hi greg,

Nice job on the fishys. That's a BIG boat and was kinda pricey when she first came on line but don't know her history after that time. Amazing how often outfits get snagged and retrieved. Seen it many a time and of all places ..... very often at Catalina's frontside !!

Thanks for the nice report,

Congratulations on the good trip .

Yeah thats lucky recovering that rod & reel . I had that happen to me recently on a local
3/4 day boat. I'am taking a fish off my hook and see some slack line around mine , just
thought it was loose line. I put my fish in the fish sack and as I'am walking back I watch
my rod go over the side and slowly sink away. Custom Cal Star Graphiter & Newell reel.
About a minute later someone on the other side is reeling it up by the line and the deck
hand grabs it and hands it back to me . :Big Grin:

Nice, we were out there on the Pacific Voyager on a 2 day. We saw you guys out there. We had 161 on the 1st day and topped off the hold with limits on the 2nd. 2nd day was an afternoon bite. Sorry for the thread jacking. Isla Todos Santos was the scene of the crime.
