To say the bite at the lake has benn WIDE OPEN is understating it to say the least. A plethora of fish have been coming up to the scales and the mixed bag action is just ridicolous. There are huge schools of shad being pushed up into the shallows by Trout, Crappie, Bass, heck even the Carp have joined the fray. This is honestly the healthiest and best fishing I have since the year after the El Nino event!
Trout fishing has picked up after the huge low front that passed through on Wendsday and Thrusday with limit style action for the bait dunkers that are fishing a little deeper with Gulp rainbow garlic, chrt garlic dough, and of course the old nightcrawler. Trollers are doing very well flatlining SHAD imitations all over the lake. The SC shiners and CD-05 Rapalas are basically the exact size of the shad in the lake right now. A couple of monster trout where landed this week as well

Here is the biggest fish of the week a 15.10 Rainbow Trout that ate a Kastmaster fished back in the flats . Dino Martorano of South Pasadena was the lucky angler.

Martin Weiss of Los Angeles with a 12.2 Rainbow taken from boat dock cove on salmon egg red powerbait.

Even Hubert "kewhip" Zamara of Long Beach got in on the bite with this impressive limit taken on Power worms.

The bass fishing has sprung into full swing with some fish starting to do their thing and spawn up in the shallows. However a bulk of the fish seems to still be in presapwn mode with water temperatures hovering in the 58 to 63 degree mark. A lot of males can be taken fishing a drop shot or other presentation up shallow. However, if the big girls are what you are after I advise you fish a bit deeper. A lot of quality bass have been taken this week on a lot of presentations and even by trout guys!

Here is John who is a lake regular with a estimated 7lb plus Bass that ate of all things Gulp Rainbow Garlic Dough while fishing in the flats. The Bass was photographed and then released to do her thing.

Robert Simon Jr of La Puente found this trophy sized Largemouth while trolling mid lake. The 7lb bass ate a Rapala that probably passed through a shad school that this fish was gorging on.

Just to show you how dumb the Largemouth bite has been even the author can fool a 4lb fish. This fish was taken on a jig.

Proving that he can still teach his son a thing or two about Crappie, Mr. Curtis Meade of Anaheim proudly displays not one but two 2lb plus Crappie taken while drifting mini jigs in boat dock cove.

Rafael Salgado of Anaheim proves that big Carp do eat lures with this 20.8 Common Carp taken from the Lagoon on a Kastmaster.

Now that my story, if you read this far, is complete. I would like to tell everyone that we do have camping available for the westen outdoor news event and plenty of boats still avaliable. Please contact myself or Daniela to get all squared away on that. This event is going to be pheominal.

Yes you read correctly. Some of the big minnows swam into the kids lagoon via the pipes..
