Well Steven (fishboy93) called me about a month ago inquiring about a trip to DVL with me.. He and his dad Danny wanted to get out there when the bite got better and the weather got warmer. So after reading my reports over the last couple weeks, both Steven and Danny decided that it was time to get out there with me to hammer the bass so they booked a trip!!!:Big Grin::Big Grin::Big Grin:
I called Steven earlier this week to give him a fish report and to get him fired up for his trip yesterday. He told me yesterday that after i called him, he couldnt sleep well until the trip because he was so excited to go.
So I roll up to DVL yesterday morning at about 5:55am and Steven and danny were already in line waiting 4 cars ahead of me...:LOL:
They opened the gate before 7am and we launched the boat and we were on our way...
We pulled up to our spot and I make a cast to show both Steven and Danny how slowly to work the bait. (they want it VERY slow right now) Within one minute I feel a light TICK...and I set the hook....my fish surges to deeper water...They both looked at me and couldnt believe I already had one... after a couple shorts runs I lip a solid 4 1/2 lb DVL Prespawn Largie..
That was all they had to see to get started... So I gave them the rods and they both fired out casts. Danny proved that he was paying attention right away because within 1 mintue of working his bait back to the boat...He gets bit and sets the hook on a solid 4 lber. I net it and high fives are given...
Two casts later Danny swings again and I net another solid DVL bass. Within 2-3 mintues of Dannys 2nd bass Steven swings and sets the hook and a big bass surges to deep water. I tell Steven..You have a "good one" as Stevens fish takes about 10 yards of line... After a 3-4 mintue fight, I put the net to a SOLID 4 1/2- 5 lb DVL prespawn bass. GOOD ONE!!! More high fives around the boat!!!:Envious:
This type of action went on throughout the day..
I think Steven had the big bass of the day but he later caught a couple that were very close to that and Danny also had a few that were close as well...
In total we caught 30-32 bass with the best 5 weighing in at about 24 lbs. And there were only a couple missed bites and one breakoff from a really good fish.
Steven also took the SMALLEST bass of the day award.... :Embarrassed::Embarrassed: I skinny 8 inch dvl baby bass... I told Steven that I have swimbaits bigger than that bass..:LOL:
All of the fish were caught in 10-40 ft of water on plastics....
Nice job out there Danny and Steven!!!! You guys did great with only having a couple missed bites and only one broken off bass...(Which was probably a giant!!!) hahahaha
Here are some pics from the day...
