Going to the in-laws in Vegas this coming weekend and was thinking about trying to catch some trout at Willow Beach with my 2 and 4 yr olds. I have never been there before and was wondering how far it is from Vegas and if it is worth the drive. Everything that I have read says to fish the pier but if anybody has any other suggestions I would greatly appreciate. Thanks.

the trout fishing there is supposed to be pretty WO to WFO. like tenderloin said they stock it on fridays. salmon peach, spinners and power worms work well. the drive is about 45mins to an 1hr depending on how fast you drive and traffic etc...be sure to call the hatchery there and see if its open and make sure to take your kids there. good luck, let us know how you do.

Thanks for the replies guys. One more question, can I use a Nevada or Arizona fishing license to fish the Willow Beach pier?

I would buy an Arizona license with a Colorado River stamp. I believe you can purchase a 1 or 3 day license.

Its a nice trip across the hoover dam also.

Go to google maps and use the street view. You can look right out on the river.

i think as long as you have either license WITH a colorado river stamp and you'll be good, thats what i've been told. wherever you go to purchase your license, be sure to ask and double check on that.
