Got up this morning and went over to Sports Authority to get my girlfriend and I some new fishing poles, 10lb Florocarbon, swimbaits and jigheads.
Waited for the tide to hit low before i headed out to the jetty.
My friend Edgar came along with us this time for his... maybe 6th fishing trip ever.
He started the day off right... it was awesome and terrible at the same time.
He baited his hook with a ghostie before i tied on my swimbait and maybe had his line in the water 5 minutes.
I look over and i think he's stuck on the rocks...but then i see he's got a big fish on. So i hop over to him and see this MONSTEROUS CORBINA! (and he didn't even say "I got a fish!") had to be around 22"-25" for sure. I really wasn't sure how we were going to land this fish with out a net or lipper so i hopped down to a lower rock. Tried to get the fish a few times and the line snapped!!!
Total bummer, i appologized numerous times and gave him a high five. He had a MONSTER!
Began my search for a fish over on "my rock" .. i swear to you its a hot spot. Stay off. lol
I recently read a post that mentioned switching to some heavier line with the spotties because of their teeeth.
I lost a few last weekend with the 8lb stren... But today i have 10lb P-Line Florocarbon, and good thing I did.
I cast out and again, I'm working the bottom slowly and I get bit in tight to the jetty... head shakes, some heavy pressue i knew it was a big spottie or something worth while.
To my surprise it actually was a Halibut and a pretty big one at that!

Great camo artists , matched his backround pretty good.

I'm ordering a lipper right after this post. Because once again I'm like "how am i going to do this!?!" so i just held the fish in the water right there for a while. He inhaled the bait prett good THANK YOU FLOROCARBON!
Finally got him on the rocks with out breaking the line. Phew!

That's a size 13 shoe. I say he's got 5-7" more inches left.
I reached for my lure, wow never again. Pretty much almost bit me Lol

After a little drama, i got the hook out and took a better picture. This one doesn't do it justice i don't think. The rock is slanted and my girl's foot is on the higher side. How big do you think it is?

The coolest part about it was how he swam away over the rocks so stealthy and disappeared.
So, we lost a huge corbina today, battled with a grumpy halibut and saw a injured or sick seal

Pretty good day if you ask me. Got a fish on my new rod/reel and shared cool experiences with my friends.
Thanks for reading and until next time....
