Had to go to Bridgeport for the day on Wednesday so I stopped in Bishop on the way back to LA. Fished the Five Bridges area. I was doubtful I'd catch anything because it was like 1 or 2 in the afternoon but the bite was on. Caught 3 smaller sized Browns within about an hour. Nothing too spectacular. I was all alone with a poor quality camera phone so I don't have any pics. They were pretty wise to the lure and I had to keep moving upstream for them to bite. Headed back home around 3. It was a nice little session before the ride home. Looking forward to going up for opening weekend.

Is "Five Bridges" the part that is north of town ... i.e. where you keep going straight north near the end of town instead of curving left towards Sherwin Grade and PVR?

Yes go a short way down the road and you will come to a fork in the road. Take the one that says Five Bridges and park at the bridge. If you go upstream you will get the browns go down stream for the bows. I personally have never caught a brown down stream but I am sure there are some. Go get some. Crickets work great on the browns.

Hwy 6 is the name of the highway that takes you to five bridges, its only about 1/1/2 miles from the junction of 395/6.
Right now the Owens is raging at 500 plus cfs..........

thanks for the report, what kind of lure were you using?

I'll be doing some snowboarding up in Mammoth real soon, so I'll be stopping in Bishop to satisfy the itch.
