Hey guys. I'm going on a 6-pack overnight charter tomorrow out of longbeach. The boats going to be fishing around catalina. They told us that we can bring our own rods if we want. What Kind of rods are these kind of charters using? i dont want to seem like an idiot by bringing something waay to light or waay to heavy..
Thanks,
PF

You can bring whatever you like....I like using that type of setup for calico bass n stuff.

The White Sea Bass are biting....you should have a great trip!

I would make sure and bring a 12 or 15lb rig just in case all you get to do is fish for bass because nothing else is happening.
20 & 25 and you're straight.

Definately bring the carrot stick. You will be next to the kelp when looking for the WSB.
Good Luck and report your trip,
Robert

Was on the Mardiosa last year, and was advised in the future to bring rope. I thought my two 40lb rigs were appropriate for live and fresh dead leadhead rigging, but apparently not. Rope they said. I was kinda perplexed, cause I've landed plenty of WSB in baja on 40 or even less.

What the Mardiosa guys were advising makes practical sense to me. If you need to downsize for whatever reason, just uni some lesser diameter fluoro on.

I would bring the heavy gear. Just ask Oz what happens when you hook a toad wsb on 15# line. haha
