I went out Rockcod fishing with Eric aboard his beautiful 34ft Cabo “Pickles”, along with his friend Ari. Eric took us to some of his secret honey-hole spots in the Santa Monica Bay. The fishing was a little slow, but we started to scratch away at some nice quality size Vermilion and Copper Rockfish. It was a good thing that Eric has radar on his boat, because it was really foggy.

Here is Ari with his first Vermilion Rockfish of the day.

We later went over a little hill that was loaded with bait/squid and there was a bunch of quality size fish that wanted to bite. That one little area helped us to get limits real quickly.

I had a great time fishing with Eric and Ari and can’t wait to do it again. I just wish I had brought my GPS with me….LOL!

Awesome day in SMB. That's a great haul of bottom dwellers.
