Check this out trout chasers...

Went to Yucaipa today because Mojave is having a derby tomorrow and was closed today. We did pretty good considering there weren't too many peeps catching fish. Anyways, we went to the bottom lake to check it out and when my buddy looked into the trees he saw this kormoran with fishing line wrapped around its neck hanging (just like a noose:Envious:) from the tree!!!

Who could love this more then (Trout fisherman) us right:Envious:

I don't like those birds, eating our gamefish and giving me a crap shower (Fairmount Park), but that's just showing us that we cannot leave fishing line laying around. That's not a cool way to die for any animal. I remember seeing about 10 Cormorants hanging in the trees at Lake Hodges a few years back. They all looked like they just got tangled in the branches. Didn't see any fishing line wrapped around their necks....weird and kinda spooky.

as much as I hate these birds, this incident and others like it are unfortunatly veiwed by the public as a bad mark on all us fisherman. I would love to take my high powered pellet gun out to some of my fishing spots and take a few of these things out as much as the next guy but this will only hurt our image instead of helping it.
Just my opinion, feel free to comment.

Wow, what a crazy looking picture. I hate these birds as much as the next guy, but if I saw that happening to the animal I would have attempted to get it down. Think about how that must of felt? It's one thing to hate an animal for doing something it instinctively doe's, but no living creature should die that way without cause. Hey if they are child molesters, rapist, or cold blooded murders; let's line them up and yeah I believe in an eye for an eye, but that's a whole different conversation. Just my thoughts...

i agree with you f . n.no animal should die this way.people are gonna look at it and wonder how it got tangled up?then notice that a fisherman didnt clean up his mess.and the bird got caught in his line.just my opinion.thats all.

Only a stupid, twisted a-hole would love this. And this is why you need to pick up discarded line instead of just throwing it on the ground. No creature should die because of careless, inconsiderate human activity--and I don't care how many f-ing fish they eat.

Instead of using this horrific image to encourage people to pick up their fishing line, you use it to gloat over its death. You're a real turd, bud. Not only are you insensitive, you can't spell. It's a CORMORANT.

that is a sad thing. there is nothing funny about an animal dying because of a trashed fishing line. everywhere i go there are trashed fishing lines. when im out on the lake i sometimes see people get their lines all tangled up and throwing it in the water, throwing cigarette butts in the water, leaving trash everywhere. i see alot of fishermen just enjoying the day at the lake but dont give a rats as* about the environment and these types of people are the ones that think its funny to see a dead bird hanging by the fishing line.

1st of all I didn't leave my line laying around after I took it off from my spool. I never leave trash or anything that I brought with me behind, and as far as that goes neither do the friends that I fish with.

2nd of all I could care less about these birds, they are a coastal bird and shouldn't be this far inland and in the past few years their numbers have sky rocketed.

3rd there once was a German ship called the "Kormoran" that sank 10 other ships and caused massive terror during WWII kind of like these birds do to trout, kind of ironic to me really but thanks for trying to school me on how to spell.

4th Ask me if I give a damn about what you think please ask me:Smack:, I'm insensitive and I can't spell blah blah blah....Get off of your soap box:Soap Box: and cry me a river buddy really.:Envious: Honestly we were walking through some trees to go fish and we happened to see this bird hanging dead so I took the time to take a photo because that's not something you see everyday. I feel no guilt over this nor do I feel any sadness for this bird. They are a nuisance period in my opinion. I not going to go around hugging trees and sending a message to everyone to pick up after themselves and save the "cormorants" (there happy now:Envious:) because you feel bad about this one. I got bigger fish to fry.:Finger: So...http://www.threadbombing.com/data/media/2/fu12il5xg51.gif (http://www.threadbombing.com/details.php?image_id=2868)http://www.threadbombing.com/data/media/2/c1f44a010529bfdfe6962a0bf6b9a212.gif (http://www.threadbombing.com/details.php?image_id=4204)

i didnt miss anything. posting the pictures made some laughs from the comments for us all and started a small campaign amongst us anglers to trash any and all discarded fish line. i know i do.

besides, there was nothing criminal to posting the pics. and more than likely there was nothing criminal as to how the shag got caught on the line in the tree. people, young and old inadvertantly get their lines caught in trees which led to this birds death unfortunately.

I can see it now....The EPA gonna say that this species needs to be protected from fishermen and their fishing line. They'll use this picture to show how much damage we're causing to the environment and try and close off some more areas that we normally fish. Yeah Carl Kormaran drew the short straw and took one for the team so they could get there lake back. On a side note, I can totally see some tree hugger trying to use this picture and other ones like it, no matter how few and far between incidents like this occurr, and try and put a bad mark on us anglers.

Wow! lots of comments on how this is not the way for an animal to die. Just want to bring something up, how many of you here like to go trout fishing. When you catch one you throw it on the end of a stringer only to watch it flip flop back and forth in the shallow water. Pull it out of the water to show every joe blow who walks by and asks "catch anything?" Then chuck the stringer back into the water to watch the fish flip flop back and forth, all the while the fish is suffocating in the shallow water. It can only pump the dirty shore water through its gills, not the clean lake water. Trout need clean water, no mud, to breathe. How many trout you see swimming and rooting around in the mud for food??

Wouldn't you say this bird died of suffocating? lack of oxygen? Same thing happens to the trout that you throw on the end of your stringer.

I don't mean to preach here but if I intend on keeping fish. I carry a small club to whack the fish over their head to ease their suffering.

Sure, seeing this bird strung up like that is inhumane but think about what we do to the fish that we catch.

-Right on dude! My dad, whose a great outdoorsman, has always taught me to knock the trout on the head with a stick or knife handle to kill them quickly, before we clean them. I don't get the stringer thing. Usually the trout are long dead and just lying in the sunny warm water for hours, then taken home, cleaned and eaten! Sometimes they are just thrown away.....

all the comments about picking up after urself with the line.....clearly this wasnt the case..someone went to cast out and hit a tree...then in turn had to snap the line cuz they couldnt get it out...i kno dam well none of u would climb the tree the get ur line out knowing one of these creatures would get stuck in it...c'mon now ease up!

Dude you don't have to explain nothing period. Don't waste your time explaining something to someone who judges people on the internet and hasn't the slightest clue who you are or what you're about, it's worthless...
