Does anyone know of any bass fishing clubs in southern california? I tried googling it, but a lot of the clubs have given up or just not fishing much. I'm looking for a friendly competition club, i'm no pro fishermen and still have a lot to learn, and was thinking a bass club might be a good idea.

A bass club is a great place to start. You never mentioned where in CA your at. Check this link, I noticed that some of the clubs listed either dont exist or the web page listed is no longer valid but some of them work fine.

There is the Castaic Bass Club, but it is too expensive for me to join and stay a member, lol.

The Orange County Bass Club has a bunch of good guys. They need non boaters more than boaters. Either way you get paired up for a tournament. They fish 1 and 2 day tournaments from Pyramid to the river lakes. The boater splits gas fees and such with the non boater for tournaments. I haven't been in it for a long time but it was $25 or $30 to enter the tournaments with a $5.00 big fish option. Yearly dues was like $30 or $35 bucks.

They meet on the 3rd Monday of each month at 7:00pm or 7:30pm at the Garden Grove Elks Lodge in the city of Garden Grove (Newhope/Trask). Tournaments are the first weekend of every month. The club is still active as I have talked to one of the guys. For more info call the Elks Lodge for the club schedule, dates, and times.
