Awhile back i had the opportunity to take a personal tour of Jay Lenos garage. It was definitely a memorable experience seeing one mans collection of multimillion dollar cars, one of a kind cars, and just plain out awesome cars. I got to see my two dream cars, The Mclaren F-1 and the Mercedes Mclaren SLR. That made the trip for me.

I was given this opportunity because @ the time i was working as a wrench for Valley Detroit Diesel/Allison Transmission out of city of industry. They are the major distributor for detroit deisel engines and allison trannys for the west coast. Jay leno sent us two of his vehicles, One being the chrysler tank car which had an m47patton tank motor in it paired to an allison b-500 transmission. The Second being a 1940's tour bus. I was on the tank car build team, it was a once in a lifetime experience watching her come together and finally running her on the dyno.

I spoke to jay quite often during the build and even had lunch with him on one of his many visits to the shop. When the build was over Jay called in to thank everyone and asked to speak to me, he thanked me for the hard work and great communication during the 6 months we had the vehicle then asked if i would like to come down to his garage for a tour.........HELL YES MR LENO!!!

We set it up for the following saturday and allowed me to bring three guests. I invited fellow workers but no one believed i was really invited! Saturday came and i made a couple last minute calls to my brother in law Edward (fisherman101) and my buddy Gary who agreed to come...... heres the pics of our tour....

Nice post Onyx.

I've been to Jay's "Big Dog Garage" a few times over the years.

Jay has a great relationship with GM engineering and while I was with GM Performance Parts (GMPP),
I was lucky enough to be involved with his "1966 Toro" project. 1070 HP. SWEET.....
http://www.seriouswheels.com/cars/top-1966-Oldsmobile-Toronado-Jay-Leno.htm

He's a semi-regular at the Bob's Big Boy Toluca Lake car show on Friday nights and usually drives a different car every time he shows up........ the man knows loves cars, thats for sure. He's got a better collection than the Peterson Museum IMO.

Thanks for sharing .........

Wow, Nice Rides. Mercedes McLaren is the Shiet. That Toronado engine is cool.

hood was autographed by shelby himself

The guy across the street works for Shelby at his personal collection shop in Torrance next door to a Shelby engine shop. He is in his 80's and comes to the shop twice a week. Autographs too or get a car signed :Secret:

Those old guys are too cheap for being millionares. Shelby was driving a older Dodge Caravan then he stepped up to a Ford Focus and shops at the 99 cents store

Ed Iskenderian ISKY Cam is another one. Pushing 90 years old and still going strong.
My neighbor says he will take your food if you get up from your table. Loves the 99 cents store too and dumpster diving.
Packrat who loves dumpster diving 5 days a week.
