Keith,

Thanks a million for extending the SCCA hospitality to Bullets and I at your club event !! On the drive home we couldn't stop talking about how much fun we had fishing with you guys, not to mention all the new knowledge we gained. You guys truly have this Blythe river flathead thing down to a science. In particular, fishing with "T" (Lucky 33) was like going on a private flathead guide trip.

Will post a report & pics once I get squared away, just wanted to say thank you...

thanks again guys for coming out. i know it's quite a drive.... but hopefully well worth the trip !...it's always fun to hit the colorado river.... down in blythe ! and the fun is just beginning... give it three more weeks....and the fishing will only get better... it's still a little on the cold side at night..as you both found out !! and soon it's going to turn hot,hot,hot....and there's nothing like fishing for the mighty flathead....at 1:00 am in the morning at night in a tank-top..out on the river.....hope to see both of you guys in a few weeks..when we will do all of this again !!

thanks again:LOL:

Sorry for the delay in posting some pics....I haven't been home in 2 weekends (previous weekend I was sturgeon fishing in San Fran) and work lately has me by the short and curlies!

Fishin' partna in crime good ol' Boollits and I motored out to McIntyre Park around 10pm thursday night and setup shop. Had a few beers and zonked out.

Friday morning we pitched worms and what not around the camping area, and it produced a bass for Greg. We spoke to the SCCA crew on the phone and they gave us some great spots to try out.

We spent the rest of the day "running and gunning" in my usual ADD style of fishing. We started off fishing the backwaters a few miles from camp by truck, and would hit one spot for a dozen casts, then mount up and drive a couple hundred feet further. Found one particular cool spot that had a little "waterfall". It produced a few bass for Greg and I, not to mention it looked like a really sexy catfish spot. They seemed to like the slowly retrieved/twitched plastics, though Greg did knock a couple out on a shad rap. (Nothing big as far as LMB are concerned, and I certainly would expect a real LMB guy to catch 10X as many as me!)

Ended the day going to Palo Verde Dam. Holy cow! Very treacherous fishing terrain, but definately rewarding if you hookup. Long story made short, on my 200th cast in to the white water, I hooked up on my Avet SX / Okuma swimbait combo, and fought a rather large striper that fell for a plain old ocean size rattle trap. I was really concerned about slipping on the rocks and, uh, drowning (my wife would kill me if that happened), so I was unable to land my striper even though it was right at my feet flopping around. I had no Boga grip or anything to grab him with, and I could envision myself pulling a Trollmeister and getting hung up on a rattletrap treble hook.

All I got in the end was pics of a bloody lure. That makes me 0 for 2 on big striper at the Colorado River, with my previous one spooling me while Trolly was watching and shouting "Oh My God!" ha ha!!! Sonuvabeeeeesh!

We ended the evening back around the camp area, doing a little night fishing in a clearing in the tullies, getting the crap scared out of us by the psycho Colorado beavers. No joke. They'll put the fear of Jesus in you when you got no lights on and you're in the middle of no where.

Saturday we spent the day with the great guys of SCCA. If you ever want to catch a flathead and have a chance to fish with these guys: do it. Lots of expertise and critical hints and tips. Great group of guys, who's passion is to have a goodtime and catch really large flathead. They do it with flavor, I dig their style.

After a most excellent BBQ, and making live bait, I spent the evening fishing on Luckie 33's (Tony) boat. Tony is one helluva great flathead instructor. Felt like I was on a private guide trip.

Somewhere around 2:30 am, I heard the clicker go off, and grabbed the rod. Set the hook, and fought this dang thing for a while. The fish charged the boat (never had a cat do that!) and then shot back out. Finally we got it to the net, and I was super stoked! Couldn't really sleep after that. ha ha!!

Thanks a million Keith for extending the invite to Greg and I, and thanks a million Tony for taking one fat asian brother on your sled and showing me how ya'll do this crazy business of flatheadin'!

They say....."Once you go flat, you never go back (to a pay lake!)"

The best part of it all Armando, is that it is free. You can camp for free, you can fish for free. In fact, if you do it right, your live bait is free! No stinky macks and shrimp...

I had so much fun, I'm trying to figure out the next time I can head up there.
