Fear And Loathing at Irvine lake.....

Many days and nights have passed since this weirdo has been out for a day of debauchery on the water. The trip started like any other, unable to sleep the previous night due to the excitement of the unknown. What lies ahead for us?....Will i catch fish or just a buzz?..... The alarm went off at the crack of 5:30am and i was out the door and enroute with my fellow trippers, Fisherman 101 and my nephew Eddie Puente the 3rd......

Looks Like it to me.

We arrived at Irvine lake around 630 am to a long but fast moving line of cars, no worries we quickly got in and set about finding a spot to set up camp.
Boat Dock cove was packed so we made our way to the flats.

We setup on a prime strip on land in between 2 groups of people and cast out out lines. Fisherman 101 was fish on within 5 mins.

It was like this for a majority of the morning then it shut down for a bit........but we had our dinner table victims waiting...

My nephew eddie woke up from his nap and started having his own fun by building bridges over rutts and pelting cans with rocks.....

Troutdog and frenchy showed up @ the crack of noon to scope out the area and decided to set up and kill the afternoon with us. Many laughs were had as usual.......

In the midst of bs'in taking jabs at each other and having a good time we all agreed we would let the kids finish out the day on bringing in the rest of the hookups..... Eddie brings in a nice fish

Earlier in the day i had noticed a guy and a kid down the shore from us hadn't been catching anything so we gave the kid a shout to come over and bring in some fish. He was more than happy to do so.

It made my day watching the little ones slay the fish, besides that's what its all about right? Hatching a youngsters love for an awesome recreational activity.
It was especially cool watching Danny's face go from "im bummed we've been here all day and haven't caught anything" to "IM SLAYING EM!!!!!"

The Day was winding down and the famous 3-4 bite kicked in. Frenchy's rod goes bendo and we call Danny over and hand him the rod.........little did we know Danny was about to bring in a 17lb trout. Hootin and Hollerin' erupted down the shore line, people came over and took pics. The kids face was overtaken by extreme joy, it was awesome.

My day ended on a great note, it made my week being able to witness two youngsters give it all they could and bring in some great fish.

thanks huck you know alot of these guys on here see me as a bad person i just hope this changes some of their opinions of me i know it did some already but ive caught plenty of dd trout and the kid was over there kicking rocks and wanting to leave so we hooked him up it was more fun than catching a dd myself that kid is hooked for life. i didnt do wee in the tourney the next day although i had chances at 3 big fish and screwed it up but hey i still had a great weekend

Never thought of you as bad person at all, why would someone think that?.....anyone who would think that has definitely got to think twice now after you getting the kid on that DD. Getting kids on fish period is so rewarding, but on a DD? Just Epic man!

One of these days I need to hit up Irvine again, not sure if it will be this season however.

17 lb slayage! That kids is dreaming about that fish right now! I bet he told over 25 people by now! That kids told people he doesnt even know! You just made a new team 57 member! Its great to see the kids on some fish! Too bad he didnt qualify for the masters!
