There wasn't much time left but I decided to go fishing with my girlfriend anyways at Newport Harbor. We got there by 5pm and left by 6 right when sunset hit.

I'm pretty content with my catch, a nice 2 pounder for me. She was pretty content with hers as well since it was her first spottie.

Looking forward to fish here more often when the weather doesn't permit us to go out on my boat.

Nice looking hali you got there! And congratz to your gf on her very first spottie. It took me 4 trips before I caught my first one! LOL. Cute rod too btw, hehehe.

What do you mean there wasn't much time left? We usually get there around the time you did but we fish for hours. And if the bite is hot, we've been known to stay past our bedtime.

Well it was nice meeting you guys at the FHS and we look forward to fishing with you soon.

Not bad for an hour of fishing. Looks like you two had fun out there.

Is it Lynn? I forget. Cute little ice rod you have there. I would be worried about hooking into a legal flattie or larger model spottie with that setup, but it can be done... if your name is Wingnut. Check this video out:

Danny, nice flattie. Looks like the butts are coming out to play with the warmer weather. Be prepared for some of the legal models that move in close to shore late in the evening. Steve had a little encounter just the other day.

Nice job out there to the both of you,
Were you at the jetty also?
If so, that was me that got soaked with the blue jeans.
Nice report and pictures,
Robert

Thanks. My girlfriend was extremely excited when she caught that fish. She couldn't stop calling my name as she was reeling in the spottie. Yeah, it was getting dark, we had to get home for dinner and we had other plans that night. Is there enough light to fish after sunset where you fish at or do you have your own little lantern that you carry with you? It can get pretty dark out there on some docks.

Thanks. Her name's My-Lynne, but close enough. For sure I definitely will prepared when those legals come in. In fact, I just caught another hali today. Wasn't legal, but still yet another good 2 pounder. Check it out.

No, I was actually on the dock at 15th st. How did you soak your jeans?
