I have a friend that goes there all the time. In my opinion Diaz ia a mud hole but if you really want to fish it the secret bait there is Velvetta Cheese. Keep it on ice, break off chunks, mold onto a size 12 trebel hook, dip it in the water then roll in garlic powder or crushed fish pellets tou get at a hatchery. Yellow powerbait works as well. 4 pound line, 1/4 oz sliding sinker, 3 way swivel 2 leaders 1 about 12 inches the other about 24 inches. Try on the rocks just west of the handicap dock

The fish and game stocks brooders in the lake so yes they catch good sized trout.

Personally, if it were me I would go a little further north and hit up the Owens or PVR for some browns

Diaz Lake is a good "kid's lake", and it has a boat ramp if you're so inclined. I concur with the idea of PVR or Owens River, though.

2 leader idea is new to me ... no problems with tangling? May have to try it at some other places too

"Mud hole" is being nice. Fished it once in my boat. Lost a $20 Lucky Craft trolling...PVR is way more fun.

Mud-Hole is right, it's only about 6ft. deep and not much room to fish because of all the reeds around it. Nice to camp for the night if you like to feed all the Raccoons that hang around there.

Only 6 feet deep ... seriously? Wouldn't the stocked trout die when the warm weather comes?
