April Opener First Timer

I'm planning on going to the opener for the first time. What times do you regulars usually get "on your spot?" Any recommendations for a first timer?

Depends on where you are talking about...Crowley shore is a day or 2 before, I know people that hike to the back of Convict around midnight preceding the opener just to fish that spot. The key is to not go to those places on those days though.

Their trek is usually all for not as they catch the same 12" fish that you can typically catch at 5:45 am up at the marina and along the sides of Convict.

To each their own I guess...I typically prefer to stay away from locations like Crowley & Convict and hit them a couple of days after the opener.
