Went out today, despite the rain. $1 poncho worked just fine, haha.
Threw a Zoom Fluke on a dropshot, nailed a nice largemout on my first cast with it. Really scrappy fighter, great colors too, no scars.

Then, after losing the Fluke on a snag, I switched to a homemade custom jerkbait/sinker -lure. Got another largemouth on my first cast with it, really sickly-looking, pale with some
scars. Both were around 12-13 inches.

Had a few taps and beeps on my carp setup, but nothing serious. I think the cold front drove all the carp into sleep mode.
Towards the end of the day, I nailed a really beautiful pumkinseed sunfish on a drop shotted Berkely Gulp (I love that plastic!).
Check out the sweet colors on the fish, sorry about the blurry photo (low-light with no flash :(

All in all, a fun day. Did really start pouring at the end. Will probably try to go out tomorrow, hope it clears up!
Fishing is so awesome.....:Envious:

Great day fishing. Congrats. What Gulp plastic were you using when you caught that sunfish?

It's a shad color, black and white, 3-4 inches I think
Killer color, almost always catch fish on it

Had fun huh? Couple things I noticed... Your 1st bass does have a slight scar, down below it's soft dorsal fin. The 2nd bass is missing a pectoral fin, and your Pumkinseed is actually a Green Sunfish, and a nice one too! You sound like it's a normal thing for the bass to be scarred up at this pond. Looks like the water level is really low, so that gives the fish eating birds an easier chance at grabbing a small bass.

Is this a "secret spot" or just a regular lake?

^Klymons, it's a secret spot.

Fishmounter, thanks, I am looking at the pics of the second bass and am kinda blown away that I didn't notice that. No pectoral is pretty bad, never seen a bass in that state before.
Usually, the bass in this area aren't scarred at all, but the low water has screwed them over pretty bad. Birds are having a hoot with them :(

Good call on the green sunfish, although I am a little confused-what's the defining feature between pumpkinseed and green sunfish? Wikipedia didn't help much and I've caught plenty of these, thinking they were pumpkinseeds.

carpanglerdude,
I sent you a PM earlier today.... Also the main difference between a Green and most other sunfish is their large bass-like mouth combined with the electric blue markings on their cheeks and body along with the orange/yellow fins. A beautiful fish actually.

It needs something like 8 feet of rain wait to get it to summer levels :(
