Saw a little window of good weather on the charts tuesday so I called my friend Jeff and asked if he wanted to go for lobster. Got to the island about 7:30 and set the nets out. First pull had an 8 pounder in it and a bunch of shorts. The rest of the night was an average of about 10 shorts for every one legal but we managed our limits. Last net had a 5 pounder in it to finish the night.

WTG on the bugs.
Custom Nets there ? How did you bend your upper ring ?
3/8" Rebar supports 1/2" upper ring ? Looks pretty beefy.
I used 1/4" rod and wrapped it around a light pole base to make the upper ring, 32" nets.
Made them a little taller than the Danielsons. Used a smaller 1/2" holes netting on the sides picked up at Ferguson's.

Check out Ferguson's if anyone needs netting or sea shells.
They have a warehouse across the street full of netting all sizes sold by the pound.

Hey DR, yeah those are old style hoop nets that are "custom modified" to the conical style. The bottom ring is the original 36" ring that used to be on the top. And the top ring - you got it right. 1/2" rebar hand bent to a 20" ring. I copied the Promar dimensions exactly except I used 3 legs instead of 4. Yes, they are beefy and heavy. That's why I drive the boat and have someone else pull them up! Thanks for the heads up on the netting. I could easily bend the 36" bottom ring and make a few more.

Thank you. Bait was tuna skin and scraps that I had saved from the summer. GPS location? Mine mounts right on the dash.
