Lake Mission Viejo 2/28/2010:

So it poured like crazy on Saturday and most lakes can have a muddy and slippery shoreline afterward. Not at this lake! A group of us planned to go fishing after the storm. Rich was a hot stick this morning while fishing in front of the main swimbeach. He had caught his limit after an hour and I had 1 fish on the stringer from a lure. They kept short biting the rapala maybe because it was too big for them to eat it. We didn’t have a single boat fishing near us either. I mentioned to him you don't have to wait for me if ya don't want to. Do you wanna go home early this morning? I don't mind it at all. We pull the anchors up and go in. I then go back out with Glenn and Tom who were waiting at the docks edge.

We head over to another spot to see what we can find. The bite has been pretty good all over the lake for over a month now. We were skeptical if the spot was gonna hold fish like it did a few weeks ago. It didn't matter what we used because it was eventually bit. I caught my 4 fish limit on 4 entirely different baits with the exception of one of them being powerbait. I don't use powerbait all that much anymore unless the bite slows down. The powerbait is basically my last resort. This is the first time I've caught 4 fish on 4 different baits here at LMV. Cool thing to do anyways!

We literally had the area to ourselves for a while before another boat fished down the way from us. I ended up catching a 4.6lber (Nebraska) for my third fish. It slowed down a little bit afterward as the fish probably moved to deeper water after the sun came out. So we took a guess and followed them. Not too many boats were on the water and it was once again very peaceful. Most of the boats we've seen fished out in front of the main swimbeach and fishing area wall. We limited out with 4 fish each around 10:00am and then headed back in.

The fish are all over the lake so you can catch them anywhere you go. No one specific spot has fish in it. Some places you gotta work the area longer but may end up with a bigger fish. Here are the pics!!

Rich is on fire!! He was done fishing sometime after the first hour.

My big fish dives straight down and tries to break me off. It wasn't successful in doing so.
