Rainy Day at the Goon

[McFingers]

First trip to the goon.

IT WAS RAINY. Man, was I wrong about the forecast. Fireball, I hope you didn't take my advice I left you last night.

First cast @ 11. Parked at the Fishing pier and worked my way down to the first non-rocky spot and started there. Drop shotting 6" Oxblood Roboworm. Worked it all the way up to the rocks and tules at the north end. Nothing.

Worked a Jig and Craw in that corner for about 30 mins. Hooked up the Drop Shot again, this time with 4" Aaron's Magic Robo and started my way back.

Then...I RIPPED MY RAINGEAr. Stem to stern lol. Straight up POS raingear. From the fly to the seat...CRRRCCCRRSSSHH. Man was I pissed.

Worked my way down, still nothing. Got to the flat part just after the first cove by the 1/2nd campgrounds....then all of a sudden it lit up!! 7 bites, 6 hookups, and 5 lands between 2:45 and 4:00. Caught 2 1lbers, 2 2lbers, and a decent size 3lber. Bite stopped, so I worked my way down a little more. Ended up meeting Fishbones. Chatted with him for a little bit, then headed to the car to eat. Fished by the launch ramp after I ate for about 10 mins, then called it a day.


All in all a good day (giving the weather).

Fishbones, pleasure to meet you. Hope to see you out there again. Hope you got a couple to beat the skunk!

FYI Sizes are guesses, I don't wanna see any haters hating now!

Dude if thats your first trip it was awesome. That lake is tricky, lots of skunks come out of there.

Beautiful looking bass. I am glad I didn't go today, lol. I didn't have any rain gear and it would have been pretty miserable! I am probably going tomorrow. I gave you tips, right? Ray Lo did too, didn't he? I can't remember, but good job getting fish on your first trip there.

Yeah, a couple ppl gave me tips. Thanks to all who did. Forgot to give props where props were due lol. That lake is nice. Saw a cool *** great blue heron but the picture I took didnt come out too good. Accidentaly had some sepia or something set on my camera.

Yupp...d/s worked. I was once a non-believed. I think I have it down now (for the most part). I was drop shotting the larger oxblood's, but it wasnt working, so I switched it up to a smaller aarons magic (since it was cloudy and windy; i thought they might be spooked a little bit).
