Arrowhead lake has a lot.....

Cuyamaca Lake, Barrett, Arrowhead does have a lot but cannot fish there. Cachuma yes but is that Central Cal. Then there is Lopez, Nacimento. My all time favorite aere the pools back in Red Rock in the summer months.

Castaic has them too, just not very common.

Big Bear Lake has a significant population of smallies as well.

Drive to Columbia River (Oregon/Washington).
Use jigs.
Catch all the smallies you want.
50+ days aren't unheard of, some guys claim 100+

It's really that easy, kinda got spoiled on them..didn't know they were such a big deal in Cali.
