Fished DVL a couple times over the last week and have been killing the stripers. Today got a couple more with some freight trains that broke off. Eating good with these bad boys! Wont post the weights to prevent drama....

Without any Largemouth this should be a drama free zone. The largemouth tend to bring out the "dramatical" stuff. Yah, your wife even snuck in a shot, but I like the look on the dogs face. He's practically drooling for a sniff of that lineside. "Little Bitz" got a day on the lake as well. Looks like she is very bundled up as well. Your a better man then me for sure. I went out a few times last week for more of the usual i.e. cookie cutter largemouth, ho hum stocker trout= boredom. Your definately getting a good bicep workout hoisting those stripers. Very big and nice indeed, very nice.

The recent spots have all been away from the marina area, Those fish have been the 12-15lb class. I was using 30 lb straight mono. I hate the braid line and 30 lb is to light for me with all the fish ive lost. I think my next move will be 30 lb with a 40lb mono top shot/leader. These guys were up to about 25 lbs. I did fish stocking day with NO success. Saw a few caught but again, the smaller models.

Shallow water points with drop offs near by..... Jointed Z-Plug and LA slider type baits. Normally ill give away exact locations but these guys have been hard to find! Hoping to do it again this week. Good Luck

No, Z-plug and ... I think its a "storm shad" lure. Basically the LA slider type baits.

Congrats on catching and "KILLING" those stripers. We need more fisherman like you to take those bad boys home and use them for a good meal or dog/cat food. Taking the young'uns only adds to the pleasure of a great fishing day.

They snap 30 like its thread if they are hooked in the right spot. Stripers have sharp gill plates and roll like an alligator durring the fight. Ive caught 500 lb fish "BSB", on 40 lb. 30 lb mono, much of the time is no problem to break for them. If you side -mouth hook them your good on 12lb if you know how to fight a fish.
