Well.....I've been watching the swells and the weather patterns not to mention the tides and
water temps. So I decided that the window of opportunity was going to be small this week.Last weeks
swell has been decaying very fast but a new swell is going to build starting saturday...not to
mention the rain. I don't have to be on top of my work in the mornings until 8:30 so what the
heck ...Leave the casa at 5:30 and be on the water by 6:00. Two hours is better than none....RIGHT?
WEDNESDAY...On the water at greylight in malibu and stuck a shortie about 20" on the first cast!. She
was hugged in tight to the rocks which always makes it nerve wrecking when you are tossing a limited edition LC.
About one second after I saw bait jump she hammered it. That's always nice! Took the pic of her while
she was calm and laying belly up. It's much easier (and more accurate) to measure a halibut this way
because they don't see you. Problem is that ALL HALIBUT look the same this way....LOL
They do stay much calmer though and don't thrash their tails on the rocks though.

Made about another 150 casts over the next two hours for nada but what the heck...I beat the skunk!!
Time for work!
Decided to do the same thing this morning. Swells were down but the tide seemed to be higher for some
reason. At the exact same spot I made one of those long casts that always makes you smile and to my
amazement on the third crank I get hammered again! Whats with this first cast thing anyways....LOL
I could tell she was a bigger model and sticking her on a long cast was really cool. She had alot of open
water to fight in and was very high spirited. Actually got two good drag burns which is what we live for
RIGHT!
I'm going to call her 25 1/2" just due to the fact that my retarded measuring tape always curls a bit at
the wrong time!

Set her free and made another 150 casts for nada again but I'm REALLY liking this new way to start my day!
Time for work!
Last opportunity is tomorrow and Big Red and I have an assault planned for the CALM BEFORE THE STORM!!!
