1/2 day helgrens 2/12/10

went on another half day trip out of helgrens in oceanside. 10-3 again 40 dollar trip.

the waters were pretty choppy and the boat was moving all over the place. hard to fish under water structure with that type of movement. i thought for sure i was gonna sunk lots of shaker. started off using chunk squids then moved to cut mac. few under size spotties and one under size calico. then i get a different bite i set the hook and it puts up this little fight not easy but different. i bring him up and it my first

sheephead i gotta say this fish is weird and cool at the same time. loved the colors and the weird teeth i ended up catching 5 of these and they all went back due to the rock fish ban.

either way i came home empty handed and feeling good at the same time. love catching new types of fish, getting ready for march 1 to take these type of fish. the crew said it taste good. there were some catches lots of small model sandies and sculpin

thanks guys. For some reason this year (ya 2 month) so far it seem like I have a better experience just having fun and learning new tricks and tips. But I'm guessing all this is like a warm up for the summer
