Had not posted my weekly Castaic Lake fishing trips in 2 weeks. So I am going to do a complied post. The latest fishing trip was excellent. Seems like everyone at Castaic Lake was pulling out limits or near limits for the past 3 weeks I was there. Saw plenty of people with super stringers of fish. It seems like with the cold weather there is very little fishing pressure and the bite has been outstanding.

2/3/10

Today I fished with my friend Ed Park. I have not fished with him since he went to the US army and served his military time overseas. It was good to have him back and fish with him again. We did an all day trip. We caught up on time, joked around and had fun throughout the day. Fishing was excellent. We fished a new area of fish. There was quite a few large units. All good size, very little schoolies. We lost a huge fish, HUGE. It was my fault not setting the drag properly. But we were happy with the quality fish. We limited out easy, so the day went really well. Here are the flash back in time:

We started out the day with some really nice size fish. This was the average fish for the morning. We hardly saw a schoolie. Just some really decent fish.

Here is Ed trying to look as Fobby as possible. We were getting some really nice fish.

This is one of the small one for the morning time.Very decent size fish. Eventually the larger units disperse as the day went on and the schoolie found us. No pictures of schoolies for us today.

Here is Ed on a whopper. Once it was hooked, almost half the spool of line screamed out. There was a massive bend on the rod. Look at how hard Ed had to grip the rod. Every pump and wind of the line the fish took off again. Ed fought the fish for quite awhile but the line popped after 15 minutes. Heart-Breaker. I should have loosen the drag a bit. My fault. We will get her next time.

It did not matter we lost that Loch Ness Monster. We were plagued by these things all morning.

We got to fish with Dan (Lowe Boat). He did pretty well too.

Here is how our cooler looked after the days end. We limited out for the day. We gave a few away to fellow boater who missed out on the earlier bite next to us.

Parting shot.

2/2/10

On Tuesday, I had had to finish up some work. Took less than a half day fishing trip with my friend Eddie Chang and Ricky. Took off work a little early and show up really late at Ricky's house to get in a few short hours of fishing. I have not fished with Eddie in quite awhile also. He just got back from US Army with the other Ed doing their time overseas. It was great to see and fish with him again. I did some saltwater cattle boat fishing with him and Ricky on Sunday and promised them some Striper fishing on Tuesday. I forgot I had work to do, but I came through. We had a blast. Made fun and talk shessh on Ricky like always. We had some lunch and messed around all afternoon. Did not catch a limit or had any note worthy catches. All we had were good times, which is better than fishing. Here are some pictures:

First stop produced some bendos.

This is a result of the bendo. A kitty kat. We got a couple of these and some stripers.

We moved on to more fertile grounds. Here is Eddie going bendo.

This is the result of Eddie's bendo. A schooling striper.

Afternoons bounty. Not bad for a couple hours. I forgot to take a picture of Ricky fighting a fish. If you imagine what a big bear looks like in a LA hat, that would be Ricky.

I like to end my posts with a parting shot.

Last week fished with my friend James, who is from New York. He is hardcore fisherman from the east coast and just moved over here. We did not do our weekly saltwater trip because of weekend rough seas and some obligations I had to attend too in the morning. So I took him on a half day freshwater striped bass fishing trip. We talked and had some of the delicious Gallions Deli Sandwiches. Caught some fish and had a great time. I did not take very many pictures, but here they are:

We caught some of these.

And one of this. James said these things from Castaic Lake are delicious. No mud taste.

My best parting shot so far.

Hope you enjoyed fishing with me again. See you all next week if it doesn't rain.

They were caught on a sardine chunk. It looks like the catfish are very active now. Seen a few boats land some on almost all the recent trips.

Sharons Rest and Elizabeth Canyon. Sharons rest is a parking lot for the past 2 weeks. They are all at the bottom right now. Less than 100ft and up. There was only 3-5 boaters, so there is little fishing pressure. It is very cold out there. The wind chill factor is not your friend.

That is not us if it is 12 foot rods. I only use 7' rods. I think Ricky the bear uses 5' rods.
