Does anyone know if there is a good pre-spawn bass bite at el dorado ?
Thanks for the help. Thinking about going to this friday to see whats going there and how the storm affected the lake.

It depends mainly on water temps and other conditions. Here's some reading on the subject. I hope this helps you guys out:

...There is no specific time period or water temperature at which the prespawning activities occur, rather they occur over a range of times and temperatures. This is nature's way of protecting the species against radical environmental swings by having fish enter the prespawn and spawning modes at different times, temperatures, water levels, and water clarities. Generally speaking however, smallmouth bass will exhibit prespawn characteristics in waters ranging from 50 to 58 degrees, while largemouths will do the same in water temperatures ranging from 55 to 63 degrees...

None of the lakes in our area are in Prespawn yet especially with the weather we've been getting..
Look for prespawners in another 3 1/2- 4 weeks....Late February...

Luckly this is one of few local lakes that has a catch and release only law during spawn and they inforce it strictly.

after the second full moon in the last week of February when the weather warms and the water clears, the LMB will start moving up to the shallows and making beds. It's a great time to throw soft/hard jerkbaits to invoke those reaction bites. Get a good pair of polarized sunglasses and keep an eye on your bait and watch for those fish to flash on your lure. If they do flash on your lure, keep tossing to them and piss'em off until they slap at it.
good luck
