Im planning on doing a local rockfish trip and want to fish for lingcod nothing else. Not sure where they are right this second or whats working for the big ones but looking for some info or recent experiences that can point me in the right direction.....thanks.....fishbones

Lings are closed till april 1st

rockfish are not in season. Unless you go to Baja.
Your only option for lings right now would be to do a rockcod trip from San Diego that fishes Mexican waters like Punta Colonett. Like the other guys said, no local rockcod now due to the closed season.

Mex waters are only a few miles south of S/D.. 1/2 day boats fish the Coronado's etc.. I have caught legal lings there.....
Make a few phone calls............ Look at fish counts...

There's as many lings as you want if you make the effort and drive down past Ensenada. Some of my all time best have been in under 150ft. of water nonetheless.

Nothing more fun then going to SQ and sending a 12 inch mac on the bottom for a BIG BOY.
