FS: Custom Otterrods rod and Daiwa Luna 103

1. Otterrods custom built on a Lamiglas XMG 7'2" blank. Heavy power, 12-20 line, 1/4-1oz lure. Otterrods are built by Matt Davis and he does phenomenal work. I'm the second owner, and the first owner's name is on the exposed part of the split grip along with the rod specs (under coat of epoxy; a good rodbuilder should be able to remove it if desired).

Spiral-wrapped Fuji SiC guides, no foregrip, burl cork split grip.

Rod is used but in excellent condition. The cork has some slight darkening and there are a few faint marks on the blank but overall very good shape. The guides are all intact but there is some discoloration under the epoxy (difficult to see, only mentioning in the interest of full disclosure). The discoloration was hard to capture on camera, but the last two pics with high flash are the closest approximation.

2. Daiwa TD Luna 103. Excellent condition, has some faint marking and very minor hairline scratches but overall in fantastic shape. Upgraded with ceramic spool bearings (can't remember the brand), casts a mile. Very smooth mechanically, no issues. Reel only, no box or papers.

Luna is SOLD.

I've been drooling overman Mattman's work for quite awhile. Nice rod, superb fit and finish!

As a builder, I'll say that Matt does absolutely first rate work. If the rod is in perfect shape, that 's a great buy! He has a very elegant sense of aesthetics and really knows his technical stuff too. Actually surprised to see one pop up here.

Luna is sold. Looking over the rod, I noticed that the epoxy on some of the guides is slightly separated (absolutely no effect on performance). The Otterrods is now 115 cash. If anyone's looking for a fantastic all-around rod with excellent components and custom craftsmanship, this rod's a steal.
