I went around the corner to Balboa lake today for a couple of hours in search of some carp. I was soaking some corny dough and was not disappointed.
Tackle was a size 2000 reel with 4# on a 7'6" rod and a size 12treble with some home made dough.

They're some pretty hard fighters with long runs and fun on light line.
Till next fish....

Carp are really ugly, but I bet they fight pretty well. Looks like a nice one.

Awesome report, love the pics, and a beautiful fish too.

Do you use a bite indicator?

DAAYM!! Congratulations man!!! That is a huge carp for bolboa, I tried that pool several times for a carp, but was only able to catch small tilapias. Great catch!!! How do u make the drought balls for carp?

They hit like freight trains and put on a good show on. Its alot of fun on light tackle.

Thank you! I post up next to the rod and loosen the drag so that the fish takes the bait and makes a good long 1st run.

The tilapia are fun too! For the dough, I took the basics and kinda ran with it. You can use corn, and bread too.

Are you using a bolt rig? With such a loose drag, I'm surprised they hook themselves if you aren't using that rig...

beautiful carp out of balboa!

I used to love catching the carp out of that lake. Caught some big carp there in the 90's had a 15 pounder out of the LA river fishing for tilapia that was crazy
