Hi All,

I'm somewhat new to FNN...tried it once a while back but hate typing, uploading pick, etc. I'll eventually get my daughter to do the reporting. We have a couple of 12' aluminum boats with 5-6hp mercs on a double trailer and fish the bays and harbors.

We also have a 25' SeaRay (you can see it in the 1st pic) for offshore, but that's for another time.

The reason for my post is that, after nearly a year and thousands of Ghost Shrimp, I finally believe that I can consistantly collect Innkeeper Worms.

I would gladly share these (and use the boats) with anyone who can help put them to best use. Any info or input on these as bait is appreciated.

Looking forward to sharing with you all.

nice boats.. what did you paint the inside of your boats with?

Honestly...just cans of spraypaint. The white 'plastic wood' on the benches was the costly part there.

You have honestly one of the best natural baits you can get from socal there.

monster corbina love these things. I have yet to catch a bean with one, but ive heard they nail the beans that prowl the harbors.

It depends on what you target. A whole innkeeper is great for big fish.

I used to find these everywhere at Los Alamitos bay, but it seems they are on the decline.

these are a rare bait for me, so i dont get to use them often, but when i do, i usually catch fish. (mostly spotfin croakers and sharks)

Try a stinger-rig. thats the best way to hook the larger ones, IMO.

Small pieces of them work great for smaller hooks. You can split them lengthwise, and cut them into strips, similar to squid.

I would rather use a whole worm, on the stinger, though-- they keep their scent longer than a strip will.

what's a stinger-rig?

I hear ya about them being in decline. I really want to target Spotfin and large Corbina with them. I have frozen these after trying one from shore. I really want to fish them (and some fresh live ones) from the skiffs though.

Where are you located? Have you seen the episode on Inside Sportfishing using innkeeper worm? Check it out if you haven't seen it. Title: Corbina....

Definately one of the best natural bait. Also it's tough so it last for multiple fishes on one bait.

I don't know exactly what's a stinger-rig is either but I would think it's probably rigging it with one hook in front and one hook towards the middle to the back.

I'm in Norwalk and fish all the southern California coast. I did see that and it's what got me started on this quest. I will watch it again to pick up more clues as to where in the bay/harbor to use the Innkeeper worms. I'll keep you posted.
