Heya, I messaged one or two of you already but id like to hear a general idea of what you guys use. I'm interested in spotted bay bass, as most of you are. I noticed in most pictures people are using plastics, but I can't really tell if their swimbaits or worms or grubs or what, and I see a lot of the colors shown have some green in them. Also, size ~ what size plastics and what size head ? 1/4oz head or lighter. Do you ever use Rapalas or anything like that, and if so what color and size as well.

Sorry. Lots of little questions, but I live way, way too close to the ocean to not get into this.

Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks much.

Tight lines.

Yeah, most the info I've gotten was directly from pictures taken while the fish had the lure in it's mouth still.

I like like 4 miles from Huntington Harbor, I was looking around there today and I can't for the life of me find a place to park. Figured id try there first, it's pretty close to home.

use 4" Gulp! Alive minnow in smelt/emerald shiner on a 3/8oz jighead.... Twitch it and hop it on the bottom.... also cast next to pilings and docks.... have gotten hundreds of bass doing that.... Cast to sandy flats for Halibut.... Good Luck!

Thanks much!

I have some Gulp! 3" Minnow, Smelt already. Hopefully i'll get a chance to use them soon.

I was scouting around Huntington Harbor looking for a place to park, I figured it would be tough and I gotta say, I couldn't find a single place that didn't have restricted parking.

blah. gulp is expensive and i havent done very well on it in my adventures. i spent 3 days a week down at nph for olmoast all summer. by far the best plastic i have came across have been Bass Assassin-Shad assassins 3" in #36 silver phantom drop shotted. also 2-3" grubs either clear with salt and pepper flake or pumpkin with black flake. baby flukes also work well. havent had to much luck with the big hammers so far but i like to use them alot. xmas tree color and pacific chovie work well. 1/4-3/8 oz heads for the BH's and for the grubs... no more than 1/4 oz.

3in big hammers in HH. The problem is finding a decent spot there. When you do find one you get kicked out...lol.

I noticed I don't see people fish HH anymore, And I don't remember it being fenced in by the bridge, guess they don't want people fishing there anymore. NPH and surf fishing it is.
