Okay so Bishara ("Nitro" here on FNN) has been reading my posts for months about the deep water bite at Perris so he finally decided that it was time to get out there with me to see what all the hype was about.
So Bishara got his brother in law Ryan to split the cost of the trip with him and they went out there with me last Friday.
Bishara and Ryan said that they have been fishing Perris alot lately, the last time about 10 days ago, but they didnt catch anything but a carp and maybe one bass.
So they decided that it was time to get out there with me to get dialed in...
And did they ever get dialed in!!!!
The bite was awesome the whole morning and only slowed for a couple hours in the late morning. I told them that the bass would bite again in the afternoon. After a couple hour lull in the action (which is typical for this season) we put a hurt on the bass again in the afternoon.
Both Bishara and Ryan told me many times during the day that this was their best bass fishing day ever and they also couldnt believe how good the rods and reels were that they were using. They both had an absolute blast and learned alot as well.
We caught around 27-28 bass for the day...we kinda lost count but all in all they had a day they wont soon forget!!!
All of the bass were caught in 42-54 ft of water spooning and on reaction baits...
here are some pics...

I havent been able to spend any time at DVL. I just went out there for a couple hours the week before and it wasnt nearly enough.
Guy and I flat out got spanked at that tournament.. Thats the way it goes though... we knew that would be a tough one for us..

Just curious, do bringing up bass from that depth require you to deflate it's bladder? In one photo, it looks like one of the bass' eye is bulging out.

If there is anyone who is thinking about calling Pete for a trip you should just do it. My experience was awesome and Pete did a wonderful job getting us on the fish. With the exception of the midday lull we were constantly hooking up and let me tell you it felt great. The winter bite could be very frustrating at time but I feel way more confident now after learning some things from Pete. His boat and equipment are top notch so give him a call and catch a ton of fish!!

Thanks again for a sweet trip!!

Yes ABSOLUTLEY... Its extremely important to deflate the air bladder on ALL deep caught bass. I personally deflate all the deep caught bass myself and watch them swim away. We did lose one fish that day (The one with the bulging eyes). It was of legal size so we kept it and gave it to a family fishing from shore.
When we catch deep bass, we make sure that we take our time reeling the bass in and we remove the air from the air bladder after caught.

Nobody should ever release a bass caught from deep water without properly removing the air from their bladders.
I show all my clients how its done properly so they know how to do it the next time they are at the lake catching deep bass. Its a part of deep water bass fishing that needs to be practiced by everyone..No doubt.

Thanks Bishara!!! Im glad you and ryan had a great time.. Im sure you will be buying some new reels soon, because I think you loved my new curados.. I told you they casted awesome!!

My son, Tom, and I are drooling. He said he's already losing sleep at night thinking about our upcoming trip.
