So you see the topic and wonder wow!! Someone goes to Corona Lake! Of all people and the 100 cars in line it was me. Don't get too excited about this report and try to hold your pants up from jumping up and down. Sit back, relax, and watch a porno instead because their is no excitement here. Today was a very slow day. Much like Santa Ana River Lakes, they boast and brag about how much fish have been stocked since the trout opener. Maybe the lake was very busy and pressured since the day of the stocking on Thursday. Maybe we went on a bad day. Who knows! Everyone has good and bad days on a lake. I would like to go back again sometime to Corona Lake but during the week tho. I was ready to give a very detailed report too.

So a couple of friends of mine seem to make it out fishing once a year with me. Last year we didn't go fishing at all. The reports from Corona Lake a couple of weeks ago were on fire. Man! I wanted to go!! Just before the News Years holiday, the bite shut down before the recent stocking. So a video of a stocking was posted. Big deal to me right?! So my friend wants to go go Corona instead rather than Lake Mission Viejo. I couldn't convince him otherwise as I'm struggling with $$$ due to the economy. My friends know that. They wanted to pay for the boat too so I'm like ok then. I'll tell ya it was an expensive day for all of us. My twin brother Mark,me, Gabe, and Doug caught 5 trout and 4 bluegill. The trout were about 12-16oz. I really don't get it!! We pay $20 to get in and the size of the trout look like feeder size for the LMV bass. There are big fish in Corona Lake so get me wrong on that one. I gave Doug and Gabe a discount gate fee pass as my brother got in free with his Sheriff badge.

It was cool to get out and enjoy the awesome weather with friends but we couldn't do anything right. We went around the entire lake and tried everything. The best bite we had (3 trout) was at the dam. We saw some guys on the dock who had 15 fish and nothing was bigger than 1.5lbs. They used chartreuse powerbait with a 6" leader on the backside of the lake. They were directly across from the stocking ramp right up on shore. We were there first thing in the morning but manged one trout. That was the only color bait I didn't use. My first time to Corona was 8 years ago and I slayed em on chartreuse glitter powerbait from shore. I had a blast. It was slow pickings for most people on the lake today. That is how it goes at times.

I called Aaron (Troutdog) this morning to see if we were doing anything wrong. The 4 of us tried different baits and leader length. It just wasn't meant to be. I won't give up on this lake. A few more stockings and cold weather should help the bite. The water temp was 56 and 72 out. A great day to be out in the outdoors tho. The trout were given away and bluegill released.

241 Toll Road: $9.00
Gas Used: Uumm! We don't know! That was evident on the boat. The damn boat vibrated on every one of them that was let loose.
Packing A Lunch: $14.45
Gate Entry Fee: $22.00, $20.00,$20.00
Boat Rental: $50.00
Bait: $8.00 - $10.00
Total: $145.45

The number of fish caught vs the above total equals to what a lady may charge for a 1/2 hour?!! Priceless!!
