Actually Fireball is correct, to a point. I've found that basically anytime of the year except maybe during the dead of winter the crappie can be caught pretty easily as long as you can find them. Probably the easiest time would be late winter into spring because they are up shallow spawning.

i've done real good just a little before spring time but i think it all depends on the lake your fishing its just of matter of finding them

Generally you get the real big ones in winter (early and late) and then you can catch a lot of the normal size ones in spring when they are spawning.
