G. Loomis has been owned by Shimano for a while now. I think Gary Loomis has fully separated himself from it now since he started North Fork Composites. G. Loomis will no longer offer blanks for sale either. Don't know why they would be discounted. I know that there was a shortage of G. Loomis' for a little while too. Cabela's may be discounting some blanks because they will be updated or discontinued by Shimano. That's pure speculation though.

This was quite a while ago. Over ten years. Gary Loomis sold his company because he was supposedly terminally ill. Apparently not. There are many disputes between Gary and Shimano regarding interests. One such conflict resulted in North Fork Composites.
